The optimization study was carried out with WASP model, shows the following preliminary scenario:

400 MW combined cycle from 2011 to 2022

First 1000 MW NPP by 2023 First 600 MW units of coal

The nuclear option introduction is seen as a favorable opportunity to develop the country‘s industry, enhance the industrial activities and boost theier quality aspects.

STEG had established, since 1970’s, industrial subsidiaries (SACEM, SIAME, STE) which had been afterward privatized.

For large STEG thermal power projects, the use of local subcontractors have been always highly encouraged and positively quoted in the bid evaluation.
