Why tungsten carbide ? When you have heavy demands on your surgical

instruments, be it scissors, needle holders or forceps,

you should consider the benefits of the working

surfaces of these instruments made out of one of the

hardest alloys available.

As a rule, performing the same type of work, a tungsten

carbide instrument will last up to five times longer. For

instance, the cutting edges of a pair of scissors, even when

used to cut the toughest tissue, will outlast the regular

stainless steel pair of scissors by 5 times.

Compare the extra initial cost for these instruments with

the length of useful wear and you have a very cost effective

solution to your instrument requirements. The tungsten

carbide inlays are either glued or welded into place. Due to

the properties of the alloy very particular patterns can be

achieved on its surfaces. For instance, the delicate pyramid

cross pattern profile on the tungsten carbide surfaces

of needle holders will hold suture needles much more

securely.

Super Cut ScissorsMAHR Super Cut scissors with their uniquely ground edges are synonymous with ultimate cutting efficiency. The special micro serration in conjunction with the uniquely ground edges ensure precise, fine and minimally traumatising cuts. All our well-known models such as Metzenbaum, Mayo or Iris scissors are supplied with the supercut finish. MAHR supercut scissors have a gold-coloured screw for ease of identification. The range of supercut scissors from MAHR comprises all

models used routinely by surgeons: scissors for delicate and extremely delicate dissecting, e.g. Iris and Mikro, models according to Metzenbaum in all possible lengths and designs, e.g. in a slim version for especially fine cutting to name but a few.

The supercut scissors can also be supplied with “HM” welded cutting edges of solid tungsten carbide alloy. The junction between the steel of the scissors and the tungsten carbide is seamless and homogenous. The welded cutting edges of solid tungsten carbide alloy guarantee excellent cutting quality and long life-span.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with

the quality or performance of our products,

simply return it to us within 30 days of purchase

for a full refund. We will however require proof

of purchase.

What does MAHR lifetime mean?

Lifetime refers to the life of the product or at

such a time, during normal use the product

can no longer function for the specific purpose

intended. Our guarantee does not include fair

wear and tear.

MAHR recommends regular maintenance of

your instruments such as proper cleaning and

lubrication. Nail cutters and other cutting

instruments will become less sharp over a

period of time due to wear and tear. Other

products are covered by guarantees offered by

the manufacturers.

However, obvious signs of abuse, corrosion

due to the use of unapproved disinfecting

agents, damage caused by unapproved

sterilisation methods and excessive mis-

handling, are not legitimate claims under the

terms of this guarantee.
