Foreword2011 saw the launch of the ambitious jig project. A plan whose eventual goal was to produce a collection of dancers capable of dancing all the known traditional Morris jigs and then some.
To this end this is a collection of jig tunes in the different traditions.
2013So we slaved away for two years and a day and in the absence of Bong trees, this is where we have arrived
2014And now we’ve done one jig competition and 3 workshops. Sometimes the minor differences in tunes across different traditions (and sometimes from one tradition where multiple collectors are involved) make little difference, sometimes crucial things, like the bar count, change. My hat goes off to any musician that can keep the variations straight and segregated when playing from memory. Me, I cheat and use the dots...TW May 2014

2015And now we’ve done 4 workshops (fifth in March) and Drew and Tony won the Veterans Jig and placed 3rd overall Sidmouth John Gasson Memorial Jig Competition

Tune: Simple Gifts. Optional: Sing third time through.
Tis the gift to be simple, tis the gift to be free, tis the gift to come down where you ought to be.And when you’ve come to that place just right, ‘twill be in the valley of love and delight. When true simplicity is gained, to bow and to bend I won’t be afraid. To turn, turn shall be my delight, til by turning, turning I come down right!
