Who are we?

Smithy House Associates Ltd is a public relations company based in the Scottish

Borders which provides community engagement services to the renewable energy

sector. We facilitate discussions between the developer and communities

neighbouring wind farm sites thereby increasing local participation in and awareness

of projects.

RDS Element Power is a joint venture between Element Power, a developer and

operator of renewable energy projects in the UK, and RDS, a small group of successful

Scottish developers with a portfolio of sites. We are based in Edinburgh with support

from the Element Power head office in London.

The wind farm would consist of up to 7 wind turbines.

Each turbine would have a blade tip height of up to 120m (396 ft).

The site could have a capacity of up to 17.5MW which is approximately

enough electricity to power the annual needs of 9,300 homes.

The proposal will also include access tracks, an electrical sub station, crane

standings and a met mast.

Community Benefit

11

If the Tullymurdoch Wind Farm were to be granted planning permission a dedicated community development trust fund would be established RDS Element Power would pay an agreed annual payment per MW, based on the installed capacity, into the fund. The fund would be indexed linked and provide financial support for projects and organisations in the vicinity of the wind farm.

Negotiations for voluntary community benefit would take place through the CCLG.

The Trust would be encouraged to seek matched funding for appropriate schemes.

RDS Element Power would encourage communities to use some of the money to assist projects that help reduce energy usage however local people will have the final decision on how the money is allocated.
