What is Identity? *Identity is the individual characteristics by which a thing or person is recognized or known.

Discussion topics dealing with Identity: Individuality: the quality or character of a particular person or thing that distinguishes them from others of the same kind, esp. when strongly marked. 

Class- people having the same social or economic status. Some examples include:Upper Class-the class occupying the highest position in the social hierarchyMiddle Class-the social class between the lower and upper classesLower Class- the social class lowest in the social hierarchy

Race: refers to a person's physical appearance, such as skin color, eye color, hair color, bone/ jaw structure etc. Ethnicity: relates to cultural factors such as nationality, culture, ancestry, language and beliefs.

Cliques/gangs: a small group of people, with shared interests or other features in common, who spend time together and do not readily allow others to join them
