Hey Big Sky Trippers, Ski season is right around the corner. I hope eve-ryone is starting to get your ski legs in shape for the upcoming season. Even though Yellowstone will be closed while we are there don’t let this deter you from going on this marvelous trip. There are still several other things to do besides skiing to keep you occupied and the ability to take in the local scenery of south-west Montana. Snowshoeing, zip lining, cross country skiing, & horse drawn sled rides are just a few of the activities available at the resort. If we get enough in-terest we will have a progressive dinner one night, snow cat/yurt dinner with entertainment another night. There are shuttles available to get into to West Yellowstone town to take in some of the history of the park & area. If you have not signed up with Sportsamerica please do so. Their website is: sportsamerica.com/online/newarkbigsky16 . Re-member full payment is required by Dec. 15 for any-one going on this trip. Here is the cancelation policy in the sign up contract: Though depending on the time an individual cancels depends on whether or not you would receive your deposit back, we highly rec-ommend you either purchase trip insurance through Sports America Tours or on your own. Any spots can-celled prior to Jan. 19 will most likely be eligible for full refund, anything after will need to be reviewed.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!! (Party that is!!) If it’s not already marked in red, circled, and starred with arrows pointing at it on your calendar, you

really need do that for Tuesday, December 1st That is the date of our —th Annual Christmas Party (at a certain time, a party really hates to reveal how long it’s been going strong!). Again, we will be hold-ing it at the awesome Newark Mannerchor; I’ll include an address & directions in the December news-letter. The bidding for the Sh-Sh-Shilent Auction begins around 6pm & we’ll enjoy the famous spaghetti dinner around 7p. Dinner will cost $5/member, which will be collected at the door and will come with a drink ticket. Feel free to bring as many guests as you can carry (carry? Who carries guest around?!?), but remember to tell them that it will cost $10/person for guests, though they will also get a drink ticket. As always, we invite our wonderful members to bring either a salad or dessert to share; show off your skills or just “dry run” something new you might want to include in your own Christmas celebrations. The Sh-Sh-Shilent Auction will be under way as soon as you get there (or whenever Santa & his Elves can get it all set up;-} and will continue until 7:45p, when it will close. Remember to bring cash, checks, or your first born; we want you to find a great deal, but we don’t take credit cards (Sorry).

Merry Christmas, and let the bidding begin! :-}

A Skiing staycation

Fri-Sun, Jan. 29-31, 2016

We are going to take our early season ski trip just a wee bit closer to home this winter. The last weekend of January will see us hanging out at Spruce Hill next door to Snow Trails in their Lodge & even some cab-ins for those looking for a little more privacy (& a hot tub, too). Beth & Nancy Swick are putting together a great weekend of fun & frolic right here in our own backyard! This trip will run about $100/member, double occupancy, & will feature some great food, ski-in ski-out accommodations, board members, snow (& ice, cuz this is Ohio), en-tertainment galore. We would like a $50 de-posit from everyone interested in going at the Nov 3rd mtg to let us get a initial count. Bring your money & sign up!!!! We will be combining our January & Feb-ruary membership meetings and holding them as a single meeting at Snow Trails starting at 5p on Saturday, Jan 30th. The club will be providing pizza and some other treats, so come out for a day a skiing, join the meeting, then enjoy some night skiing & fun at Spruce Hill with everybody.

A Jan. Winter Hike in Hocking Hills followed by a Happy Hour The 50th Annual Hocking Hills Winter Hike will be occurring on Sat, Jan. 16th. If you would like to join the

NSC group on this 6 mile trek from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave, please contact Charlie Voss. This is a free event,

with a donation requested if you would like some of the bean soup & cornbread refreshments at the halfway mark

near Cedar Falls. Shuttles will take the participants back to their cars. In conjunction with the hike, we will be holding

the January Happy Hour that afternoon around 3p some place nearby (I still have to do some research of the area

and set this up). For those who don’t want to hike but have a spouse who does, we will find a nice place to stay warm

& make toasts...oops, I meant stay toasty. Not that we want have a few drinks! Those who want to hike will be meet-

ing in the parking lot at 10:30am to start out before the 11am cut off. More on the fun event will be coming in the

December & January newsletter, so mark this date on your calendar, whether it’s just the Happy Hour or both. Can’t

wait to see who hikes & who comes out to just support the local businesses!

This month’s Happy Hour will be on Friday, Nov. 20th at 6pm at The Barn in Zanesville. This one is an old favorite haunt for us; plus they area great local busi-ness which has donated to the cause. So come on out for some fun with friends before you begin the gauntlet of family holiday functions which start with my Birth-day (or Thanksgiving as those not in the know call it! ;-} Also, as per usual, I will not be holding a December Happy Hour due to the aforementioned gauntlet of family & other holiday functions which takes up every-one’s time over the six weeks that end every year. So start it right with us at the Barn; see ya there!

Put-In-Bay Wrap Up Better late than never! I am sorry that I am late at getting this wrap up of the Put-In-Bay trip in the Newsletter. I have lots of Thank Yous for all the people that went to our Wild, Successful, Fun Put-In-Bay Weekend. There was one thing missing I didn’t see any MOONS. I guess our mooners are getting too old! Don’t have the energy to climb up on the roof tops! Ah Mark! Oh Well, probably too many winkles!! There was lots of fun without them. First of all I want to THANK all the Helping Hands in load-ing the vehicles with food, supplies and SPIRITS and helping to prepare the foods. My Angels in the kitchen and Many Thanks to them were Ann Oliver, Betty Kamphowe, Kay Morrison, Elaine Pimental, Mary Gochenhouer, June White-side, Donna Haas, Mollie Kemmerling and most of all my Co-Chair, Beth Swick. And to all that jumped in and helped in many ways. Without them the tables would not have been so loaded with all the delicious Elvis foods. Thanks to our won-derful Ski Club members for being there. Lots of great comments from you all about how you had lots of fun and how nice Saunders Cottages was! I was concerned with all the activities going on the Island that it would be real-ly difficult to get around the island but I feel it was a blessing to have more activities to attend. I know Donna and I had a great time listening to the Sounds of Sousa band. Hope you enjoyed the weekend so much that you will come back next year. We have already reserved them for the same weekend in 2016. Being we got our reservations in early we will get all the cottages for both nights. Put the weekend on your calendar now! See You Next Year at Saunders!
