Analyze Learners
There are 21 students in the class, all of which are either 11th or 12th graders. They all come from homes in the lower or middle classes. Most were born and raised in the Appalachian culture, although I have one foreign exchange student from Germany. All have had a previous introductory level chemistry course. Most are hands-on learners, although a few prefer to learn and prove through mathematics as much as they can. They understand and apply concepts well through student-led practice.
State Objectives
Students will describe pH and pOH in their own words. Students will prove the relationships among Ka, Kb, and Kw. Students will solve problems involving pH, pOH, Ka, Kb, Kw, pKa, and pKb by viewing a lecture, watching a video, working in groups, and utilizing basic algebra skills with 80% accuracy by the end of the day.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
The teacher will lecture about pH and pOH. Students will describe pH and pOH by answering discussion questions, led by the teacher. Students will relate Ka, Kb, and Kw using their knowledge of algebra and dissociation of acids/bases. Students will watch a video of the proof they were supposed to have just solved. Students will then solve calculations first individually then in groups. For the last few minutes, students will search the class pinterest and pin interesting things they can find about acids and bases in real life.

Youtube video; whiteboard; pinterest
Require Learner Participation
Students will discuss for the describing part of the lesson. Students will watch a video. Students will do their own practice problems to fully learn the methods of solving for equilibrium constants and/or concentration.
Evaluate
Students will be assessed by how well they do on their practice work. They will also be informally assessed by their participation and validity in their discussion responses.
