The Performers Philippe Clement began to play the violin at Grenoble Conservatoire. He later studied with Ivry Gitlis, attended masterclasses in Pont St Esprit from 1986 and played and recorded Bartok Duos in concert with him. Philippe played with Stephane Grapelli in Grenoble in 1988 and later formed a duo with Daria Hovora with whom he gave many concerts in France and England (London in 1996, 1999 and 2004). He has also played in Hong Kong with the pianist Benedicte Harle (1993) and later in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka) together with Massayuki Kino (soloist with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra) in 2005. Philippe teaches at the Universitaire de Grenoble and has performed with the University’s Symphony Orchestra conducted by Patrick Souillot. Daria Hovora began her musical studies at the ‘Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique de Paris’ where she won, among others, two first prizes in Piano and Chamber Music, studying under Joseph Calvet. She then studied with G Sebok, G Solchany and Menachem Pressler. In 1971 she won the Montreal International Piano competition, and in 1972 she won best accompanist at the Gaspar Cassado Cello Competition in Florence and Tchaïkovsky Competition in Moscow in 1974. Daria has played (and recorded) with numerous great musicians such as Pierre Amoyal, Ivry Gitlis, Regis Pasquier, Jean Jacques Kantorow, Augustin Dumay, Gérard Jarry, Gérard Caussé, Bruno Pasquier, Frédéric Lodéon, Mischa Maïsky, Sonia Wieder-Atherton and Michel Portal all over the world: Europe, United States, Japan and Korea. In addition to her passion for classical music, Daria also plays contemporary music and was the first to perform pieces by Olivier Greif and Edison Dennissov.

St Martin-in-the-Fields has welcomed talented musicians to this central London platform for over 50 years - from highly acclaimed young soloists, to choirs from all over the world; from promising new ensembles, to established professionals. This tradition is supported by the generosity of our performers as well as our audiences. Whilst these concerts are free to all, for those able to give, a suggested donation of £3.50 would be greatly appreciated to help fund all aspects of the work at St Martin’s.
