According to the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, the tourism sector looks superficially healthy with 2%

growth, but we are losing share of the international travel market. As tourism research professionals, practitioners

and academics, we know that our work plays a vital role in the success of the tourism industry in Canada. We have

a wide range of perspectives, a diverse set of tools and methods, and a large variety of questions that we ask and

    explore.

This years conference brings us to the Capital of Canada, which has inspired us to explore our research capitalfor

ensuring the country remains a competitive and preferred travel destination.

Submissions for presentations, papers, workshops and panels are invited relating to the overarching theme of

Research Capital for a Competitive Canada. The Conference Program Committee will also consider submissions

on other topics which are of benefit and interest to our members.

Presentations, professional development workshops and presenter-organized panels: Submissions must include

a brief statement on how the presentation(s) or workshop topic relates to the conference theme and addresses a

research need. All submissions must include a short description (approx. 300-500 words) of the presentation(s),

professional development opportunity or panel along with a brief (5-line) biography of the presenter(s). The

submission must also indicate which presentation format (concurrent session, workshop, or organized panel) is

preferred, and the length of time requested. Concurrent session presentations will be between 15 and 45 minutes

in length, while workshops and organized panels will be between 60 and 90 minutes in length.

Refereed and non-refereed academic papers: Submissions must include a maximum three page, single-spaced

abstract (excluding cover page and references), with the following sections: Cover page with title and author(s)contact information, Title, Introduction, Literature, Method, Results, Conclusion and References. Please include in

a separate file, a brief five-line biography of the author(s). On the cover page indicate whether the paper is to be a

non-refereed (for presentation only) or refereed paper (option of abstract or full paper for the Proceedings if

accepted). It must also note how the topic contributes to the theme of the Conference. Length of presentations

will be 15-20 minutes. Please ensure refereed abstracts do not contain the authors name or other identifying
