Festive Joy and Peace TTBB and piano
(Optional orchestration for brass,

Words and Music by
Rich Cook and Cathy Bridges
Arranged by
Rich Cook
Joy and peace the Yuletide brings.
Happiness and love.
Happiness and all good things.
Hear the Yuletide heroes say,
Christmas spirit can happen every day.
Look at the star, it brightens up the Christmas tree.
Look at the snowflake fall, it makes a winter fantasy.
Listen to the voices sing “Gloria,”
See the man in red on Christmas eve.
With a magic hat a jolly snow man can dance,
To help our hearts believe!
Joy and peace the Yuletide brings.
Happiness and love and all good things.
Making saddened spirits bright
As the stars shining in the night.
Celebrate this fantasy.
Let your voices join in harmony.
Hear the Yuletide heroes say,
Christmas spirit can happen every day.
Friends are nearer, vision’s clearer.
Smiles are wider, there’s no outsider.
Joy and peace the Yuletide brings.
For a moment, let all the world sing!
Look at the child, the gift that came from heaven’s heart.
Away in a manger.
Listen to the music play, resounding from the very start.
See the band in red coats and hats playing carols in the street.
And the mistletoe makes faces glow
And Yuletide kisses sweet.

Standing on the Side of Love
Solo, TTBB and piano
Words and Music by
Jason Shelton
[Verse 1]
The promise of the Spirit: Faith, hope and love abide.
And so every soul is blessed and made whole;
The truth in our hearts is our guide.
[Chorus]
We are standing on the side of love:
Hands joined together as hearts beat as one.
Emboldened by faith, we dare to proclaim
We are standing on the side of love.
[Verse 2]
Sometimes we build a barrier to keep love tightly bound.
Corrupted by fear, unwilling to hear,
Denying the beauty we’ve found.
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
A bright new day is dawning when love will not divide.
Reflection of grace in every embrace,
Fulfilling the vision divine.
[Chorus]

Together This Christmas
Solos, TTBB and piano
Words by
Barbara Fried
Music by
Alex Rybeck
Watching the snow drifting thru the air, Feathery flakes turn the world to white.
A frosty winter sight, one we’ve often seen before. Now watching it together this Christmas
Makes the snow mean more.
Writing the cards, singing both our names, Showing our friends we two are now a pair,
With happiness to share. That’s what holidays are for.
Just spending time together this Christmas Makes home mean more.
Carols, stars and kings, the gift each shepherd brings.
This is what we have when we’re together. Lights on the tree, presents on the floor,
Family here to help us celebrate. We love each smiling face that we welcome at the door.
Just being here together at Christmas, Makes love mean more.

Tu y Yo (A Puertorican Danza)
TTBB and piano
Words by
Gustavo Adolfo Béquer
Music by
Angel Mislán
Arranged by
Edgar Colón-‐Hernández
Tu y Yo You and I
Cendal flotante de leve bruma, Floating veil of light mist,
rizada cinta de blanca espuma, curlicued ribbon of white foam,
rumor sonoro de arpa de oro, resonant murmur of golden harp,
beso del aura onda de luz: kiss of dawn, flicker of light:
Eso eres tú! that's what you are!
Tú, sombra aerea que cuantas veces You, floating shadow who every time
voy a tocarte te desvaneces, I attempt to touch you, you disappear
como la llama, como el sonido, like the flame, like the sound,
como la niebla, como el gemido del lago azul. like the fog, like the moan of the blue lake.
En mar sin playas onda sonante, In a sea without beaches, a sonorous wave,
en el vacío cometa errante, in the void an errant comet,
largo lamento del ronco viento, long lament of the hoarse wind
ansia perpetua de algo mejor: perpetual longing for something better:
Eso soy yo! that's what I am!
Yo, que a tus ojos en mi agonía, I, who to your eyes in my agony
los ojos vuelvo de noche y día, my eyes turn night and day,
yo, que incansable corro y demente I, who tirelessly and madly runs
tras una sombra, tras la hija ardiente after a shadow, after the ardent daughter
de una visión! of a vision!

Program Notes
The "Danza" is arguably the maximum artistic expression of Puertorican culture;; it is Puerto Rico's
national dance. It is said that of all the musical forms of the New World ithe danza most resembles
European classical music while having touches of folkloric color.
The origin of the Puerto Rican danza is not clear, but most scholars agree that it began around the
middle of the 19th century (around 1840);; soon thereafter, it had taken precedence over the waltz on
the dance floor. The danza is a form very rich in melodic and harmonic content, and it embodies a very
deep character. Every danza is preceded by a short instrumental prelude, called the paseo
(“promenade”) during which the couples walk along the dance floor in a wide circle,
presumably to show off their ball gowns and finery.

Velvet Shoes
TTBB and piano
Words by
Elinor Wylie
Music by
Dennis W. Rosenbaum
Let us walk in the white snow
In a soundless space;
With footsteps quiet and slow,
At a tranquil pace,
Under veils of white lace.
I shall go shod in silk,
And you in wool,
White as white cow's milk,
More beautiful
Than the breast of a gull.
We shall walk through the still town
In a windless peace;
We shall step upon white down,
Upon silver fleece,
Upon softer than these.
We shall walk in velvet shoes:
Wherever we go
Silence will fall like dews
On white silence below.
We shall walk in the snow.
