Do you prefer your entertainment in daylight hours? The Matinee Series offers all the pleasures of the Master Series in a relaxed Saturday afternoon setting. Meet friends for lunch and while away the afternoon in the company of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Enjoy music by Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Strauss, Sibelius and other great composers.

The Matinee Series in 2011 features TSO Principals Jun Yi Ma, Sue-Ellen Paulsen, Wendy Page and Stuart Thomson as soloists in brilliant and colourful concertos. At approximately two hours in length, Matinee Series concerts deliver a full concert experience and promise a superb day out.

Classical music demystified! Maestro concerts offer a unique mix of talk and music with Sebastian Lang-Lessing taking the dual role of conductor and compere. Each Maestro concert is centred around a single work, either a concerto or a symphony. Hear Sebastian discuss the background to the work, discuss its context, shape and style, and point out things to listen for.

Sebastian’s talk is followed by a complete performance of the work. Come to know great pieces of orchestral music and get the insights that only a maestro can share. Maestro concerts are free to subscribers. Tickets for non-subscribers start from $21.

War, Messiah, Elijah, Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise, Madama Butterfly, Carmen and many other works.

1. Fixed PackagesThe TSO offers seven different Fixed Packages. Fixed Packages start at four concerts continuing up to five, twelve and sixteen concerts. Of course, you can choose more than sixteen concerts by selecting more than one Fixed Package. The choice is yours!

The beauty of Fixed Packages is that the dates are set. By choosing a Fixed Package you are opting to attend concerts in a given series on the dates specified. All you have to do is turn up!

Fixed Packages offer real savings. Subscribe to all Hobart Master and Matinee Series concerts and save 20%! Subscribe to all Launceston Master Series concerts and save 10%!

You must choose a minimum of four concerts but have the freedom to choose as many concerts are you like.

hOW Will my SubScriptiON bE prOcESSEd?Seating will be allocated based on the number of years you have been a TSO subscriber and the date order of receipt within each subscription package category.

The categories are prioritised as follows:

• Renewing Fixed Package subscribers without changes

• Renewing Fixed Package subscribers requesting seating changes

• New Fixed Package subscribers

• Renewing Compose Your Own subscribers without changes

• Renewing Compose Your Own subscribers requesting changes

• New Compose Your Own subscribers

Requests for a seating change: Must be in writing and lodged with the subscription renewal form.

Changes, where possible, will be allocated based on the number of years you have been a subscriber and date order of receipt.

Payment: Cheque, made payable to the TSO, money order or credit card must accompany your application, or cash if your application is lodged in person at the TSO Box Office, 1 Davey Street, Hobart.

Flexible payment option: You can pay for your subscription tickets by credit card in five equal installments. These deductions take place on the 15th day of every month commencing in February 2011, and concluding in June 2011. Please indicate on the booking form if you wish to take advantage of this option.

Family Classics series. To claim a concession, please enclose photocopied proof with your booking form.

• By forwarding a completed subscription application, it is understood that you have accepted the terms and conditions. If you acquire tickets on behalf of anyone else you will be deemed to have agreed to these terms on your behalf as well as agent for them.

• All transactions are final and refunds are not available.

• TSO subscribers of more than 10 concerts per season can exchange tickets to any equivalent value seat at any concert in the TSO’s 2011 season, subject to availability FREE OF CHARGE. For all other subscribers of 9 or fewer concerts, each ticket exchanged will incur a service charge of $5.50. There will be no refunds or exchanges except as outlined in full terms and conditions on the TSO website.

• Missing tickets: Please contact the TSO Box Office to arrange replacements. If you forget your tickets on the day of the performance please come to the Box Office at the venue one hour before the concert and you will be issued documentation to enable you to gain access to the concert.

• Any advertised ticket prices are valid until 31 December 2011.

• The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra reserves the right to vary, substitute or withdraw advertised programs, artists, venues and seating arrangements without notice as may become necessary.

• All details are correct at time of printing.

• The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra is not liable to you for any claims, damages, compensation, losses or expenses as a result of a TSO performance being cancelled, postponed or changed.

• You acknowledge you are responsible for your own safety and property, and the safety and property of any person accompanying you.

• Patrons arriving late will not be admitted into the venue’s auditorium until there is a suitable break in the performance.
