TSL’s Associated Equipment division showcased its latest range of green products - the Goupil G3 electric utility vehicle. This was the first time the Goupil G3 electric utility vehicle made an official appearance in the Singapore market, piquing the interest of contractors who visited TSL’s booth. This French product is the only utility vehicle designed as electric from the outset and is easy to operate. It is a robust work tool that can carry up to 700 kg on its deck and has a 1.1 ton towing capacity. The ability for customisation of the vehicle to suit the needs of various applications has also made it a versatile workhorse. Goupil, sited in France, is a specialist designer and manufacturer of electric utility vehicles. The design of the G3 was inspired by the forklift truck technology. 320Ah batteries mounted on the Goupil utility vehicles are robust and built to withstand intensive usage to yield up to 100km coverage, fully charged. The Goupil G3 is 100% electrical-driven and does not consume any fuel. When in operation, this exceptionally environmentally friendly vehicle with 0 grams emission of C02’s costs are low. It simply needs its batteries to be recharged. With minimal maintenance required, customers will enjoy owning this vehicle with its economical usage and maximum returns in investment for their operations. Held on 24 September 2016 at Bishan – Ang Mo Kio Park, the Green Thumbs event was graced by Mr Desmond Lee, Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs & National Development and attracted about 2,200 visitors. Mr Desmond Lee was impressed by how the battery-operated G3 - with zero carbon emissions - could effectively assist in maintenance operations in the landscaping industry, and potentially be used in other industries as well! The Parts Counter is one of the first touch points for existing and potential walk-in customers. Their first impression of the Parts Counter is very important especially for first time customers, as it contributes to determining their buying behaviour. Our Parts Counter has not had an upgrade of its outlook for more than a decade. Only minor refurbishments were made to it in 2010. It was definitely time for a change! And change we did...in bold black, white and Cat yellow to represent the product we sell, ie Cat parts. New storage cabinets, tables and display areas all match. Our valued customers’ comfort is paramount. From a better spaced comfortable waiting area to having a cuppa of their choice whilst waiting for their parts orders to be fulfilled, our customers can either browse through our sales literature, walk around to view the exhibits on the display racks or see the latest promotions on the display screens. To keep up with the digital world with this modern concept, we have replaced on-the-wall posters with digital screens. This way, we can always showcase the latest information and marketing programs. In addition, there is a PartStore® Kiosk for customers who are interested in online purchasing. Our team is ever ready to conduct a demonstration at the kiosk and guide our customers through the steps of how easy and beneficial it is to order Cat parts online. Clean and seamless lines at the Parts Counter service desk impress customers OXE Diesel Outboard Debuts in China and Southeast Asia! Singapore Changi Airport’s third runway is now under development. Changi Airport currently operates two runways for its three existing terminals and the upcoming Terminal 4. The three-runway system is intended to strengthen Singapore’s position as an air hub and its renowned connectivity to the rest of the world. The third runway, currently used by the military, will be converted for joint civil- military use, increasing runway capacity for the airport’s projected traffic growth and the future Terminal 5. This conversion includes the extension of the runway to accommodate larger aircraft and the building of taxiways, totalling about 40 kilometres. Problem – Poor Ground Conditions It is vital for the ground to be stabilised before the airport facilities can be built. The initial ground was clayey. Clay cohesive soils are low-grade construction materials which are poorly drained, and they shrink and swell, producing undesirable settlement as subgrades. On the contrary, non-cohesive soil types such as gravel and sand have good drainage properties but lack cohesion and spread laterally under vertical loads. These two types of soil cannot stand alone. A combination of the two in certain specific proportions and thorough compaction will instead achieve a stable subgrade required. Solution Working alongside its valued customer, Cat dealer for Singapore, Maldives and Christmas Island- Indian Ocean - Tractors Singapore Limited’s Equipment team (headed by General Manager, Danny Teo), studied the issues met by Kok Kiat in obtaining the right consist of the ground. Together with experts from Caterpillar, they recommended the Cat RM500B to resolve the problem on hand with proficiency and time saving measures. The Cat RM500B at work Kok Kiat deploys the rotary mixer to efficiently mix sand into clay across the hectares of land. Water is injected into the mixing chamber to allow precise metering of water into the sand and clay mixture to achieve the appropriate moisture content required. On the area where the third runway and supporting taxiways will be built, multiple layers of subgrade are required before any cement treated bases and surface course can be applied. For this requirement, the ready-mixed soil will be used to pave a layer of subgrade of depth 200mm. A Cat CS79B soil compactor then evens out the surface while its vibratory drum compacts the soil. This process repeats till the required thickness is achieved. The CS79B soil compactor is equipped with Machine Drive Power (MDP) technology, an innovative measurement technology that informs the operator when the compacted soil meets their load bearing specification, reducing the risk of over-compaction. From booths illustrating Cat Technology solutions and machine simulators to attractive limited-period promotional campaigns and half-hourly special lucky draws, it was an evening lined up with activities to keep everyone engaged! At the showcase, customers were also acquainted with attractive parts promotions for Preventive Maintenance (P.M.) Kits, General Duty Tips, Undercarriage parts, Cat Oil and Batteries. Representatives from Cat Financial Services were also on-site to offer quick credit approval for equipment deals sealed that day, making it even more convenient for the customers! The evening provided a great opportunity for our valued customers to learn more about what TSL has to offer in the age of smart iron and big data – from available products and solutions to training programmes – while networking and winding down against a magnificent view of the sunset. The event also saw the official launch of the new Cat 320D2 GC hydraulic excavator. Powered by the Cat C4.4 electronic controlled engine, this new model is engineered for low operating costs, easy routine maintenance, high productivity and long-term durability. Featuring a powerful hydraulic system, the 20 ton excavator is exceptionally fuel efficient compared to a Cat 320D2. It is also capable of Cat technologies such as LINK (commonly known as ProductLink) and GRADE. Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) participated in OSEA 2016, Asia’s largest Oil and Gas exhibition which took place from 29 November to 2 December 2016. Held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the biennial exhibition featured more than 1,300 exhibitors from 49 countries. There were three key exhibits at Tractors Singapore Limited’s Associated Equipment Division’s booth to appeal to the varied interests of visitors to the booth – namely the Sullair 375H Zone 2 explosion-proof portable air compressor; Parker heatless regeneration high efficiency compressed air dryer and AKG pneumatic operated air-cooled heat exchanger. Zone 2 Air Compressors TSL’s Associated Equipment Division, which distributes Sullair air compressors is capable of packaging Zone 2 explosion-proof portable air compressors of selected Sullair models ranging from 200cfm to 1600cfm, powered by Cat engines fitted with Pyroban kits. The Zone 2 air compressors are ATEX- certified by TSL and are ideal for applications such as well testing, gas flaring and other maintenance jobs on-board offshore rigs and vessels in areas that are classified hazardous. The 375H exhibit on display garnered much interest and sales inquiries from trade visitors. Parker Heatless Regeneration High Efficiency Compressed Air Dryer This model provides efficient removal of water vapour from compressed air, capable of delivering air quality in accordance with ISO 8573-1:2001, the international standard for compressed air quality. It improves production efficiency and reduces maintenance costs and downtime. Compared to traditional twin tower dryer designs, this unique modular construction and “snowstorm” filling of the adsorbent desiccant material provides consistent pressure dew point performance, and because of its modular design, can easily be expanded to meet increased system demand and is fully corrosion- protected inside and out. AKG Pneumatic Operated Air-cooled Heat Exchanger The “A” Series air-cooled heat exchanger powered by pneumatic fan, features high- performance aluminium cooling assemblies. It is designed for a wide range of operating pressures of up to 26 bar. The optimised coolers with louvered fin design provides the best heat transfer results per given cooler size. OSEA 2016 served as an excellent platform to showcase TSL’s Associated Equipment Division’s capability to offer one-stop solutions for applications in hazardous environment and to touch base with its existing customers whilst gaining new prospects. The exhibition was officially opened by Dr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Trade and Industry. The 4-day event attracted more than 18,000 Oil & Gas trade professionals. Zero C02 Emission Impresses Visitors GREEN THUMBS is a biennial event jointly organised by the Landscape Industry Association Singapore (LIAS), supported by National Parks Board (NParks), Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology (CUGE), Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC) to celebrate the developmental journey of Singapore’s landscaping industry. TSL is the only authorised distributor for OXE for Southeast Asia and the Republic of Maldives, whilst CEL is the only authorised distributor for China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Gracing the product launch was the Managing Director of TSL & Sime Darby Power Systems division (comprising the Power Systems divisions of TSL, CEL and Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd), Mr Alan Ow, and the CEO of Cimco Marine AB, Mr Magnus Folin. Cimco Marine is the developer and manufacturer behind the OXE diesel outboard. Welcome speeches by the MD of TSL & Sime Darby Power Systems Division, Mr Alan Ow and CEO of Cimco Marine AB, Mr Magnus Folin. Counting down to the grand unveiling Cimco Marine first launched the OXE outboard to the marine market this summer. We are pleased to now have it available in China and Southeast Asia through Sime Darby, our authorised distributor for this region. Sime Darby has established support channels and understand the demands of the marine market in this part of the world, which I believe will provide greater value to customers and resellers ,” said Cimco Marine CEO, Mr Magnus Folin. Eworldship – a famed marine website media interviewed Mr Folin and agreed OXE is a state of the art outboard engine which is certain to attract marine operators and/or owners in China. Based on reliable authorized analysis data, the diesel outboard engine market in China and Southeast Asia is set to grow at CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 56% in the next 5 years. The event also saw the official launch of the new Cat 320D2 GC hydraulic excavator. Powered by the Cat C4.4 electronic controlled engine, this new model is engineered for low operating costs, easy routine maintenance, high productivity and long-term durability. Featuring a powerful hydraulic system, the 20 ton excavator is exceptionally fuel efficient compared to a Cat 320D2. It is also capable of Cat technologies such as LINK (commonly known as ProductLink) and GRADE.

Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) participated in OSEA 2016, Asia’s largest Oil and Gas exhibition which took place from 29 November to 2 December 2016. Held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the biennial exhibition featured more than 1,300 exhibitors from 49 countries. There were three key exhibits at Tractors Singapore Limited’s Associated Equipment Division’s booth to appeal to the varied interests of visitors to the booth – namely the Sullair 375H Zone 2 explosion-proof portable air compressor; Parker heatless regeneration high efficiency compressed air dryer and AKG pneumatic operated air-cooled heat exchanger.

Zone 2 Air Compressors TSL’s Associated Equipment Division, which distributes Sullair air compressors is capable of packaging Zone 2 explosion-proof portable air compressors of selected Sullair models ranging from 200cfm to 1600cfm, powered by Cat engines fitted with Pyroban kits. The Zone 2 air compressors are ATEX-certified by TSL and are ideal for applications such as well testing, gas flaring and other maintenance jobs on-board offshore rigs and vessels in areas that are classified hazardous. The 375H exhibit on display garnered much interest and sales inquiries from trade visitors.

Parker Heatless Regeneration High Efficiency Compressed Air Dryer This model provides efficient removal of water vapour from compressed air, capable of delivering air quality in accordance with ISO 8573-1:2001, the international standard for compressed air quality. It improves production efficiency and reduces maintenance costs and downtime. Compared to traditional twin tower dryer designs, this unique modular construction and “snowstorm” filling of the adsorbent desiccant material provides consistent pressure dew point performance, and because of its modular design, can easily be expanded to meet increased system demand and is fully corrosion-protected inside and out.

AKG Pneumatic Operated Air-cooled Heat Exchanger The “A” Series air-cooled heat exchanger powered by pneumatic fan, features high-performance aluminium cooling assemblies. It is designed for a wide range of operating pressures of up to 26 bar. The optimised coolers with louvered fin design provides the best heat transfer results per given cooler size.

OSEA 2016 served as an excellent platform to showcase TSL’s Associated Equipment Division’s capability to offer one-stop solutions for applications in hazardous environment and to touch base with its existing customers whilst gaining new prospects. The exhibition was officially opened by Dr Koh Poh Koon, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Trade and Industry. The 4-day event attracted more than 18,000 Oil & Gas trade professionals.

After months of preparation, Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL), together with sister company - The China Engineers, Limited (CEL), launched the OXE diesel outboard engine with a bang for the China and Southeast Asian markets at the Seawork Asia Commercial and Workboat Exhibition & Forum 2016 in Shanghai on 29 November 2016.

This is the first time that the OXE diesel outboard engine is on show in Asia. TSL is the only authorised distributor for OXE for Southeast Asia and the Republic of Maldives, whilst CEL is the only authorised distributor for China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Gracing the product launch was the Managing Director of TSL & Sime Darby Power Systems division (comprising the Power Systems divisions of TSL, CEL and Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd), Mr Alan Ow, and the CEO of Cimco Marine AB, Mr Magnus Folin. Cimco Marine is the developer and manufacturer behind the OXE diesel outboard.

“Cimco Marine first launched the OXE outboard to the marine market this summer. We are pleased to now have it available in China and Southeast Asia through Sime Darby, our authorised distributor for this region. Sime Darby has established support channels and understand the demands of the marine market in this part of the world, which I believe will provide greater value to customers and resellers ,” said Cimco Marine CEO, Mr Magnus Folin. Managing Director of TSL and Sime Darby Power Systems, Mr Alan Ow, emphasized: “The OXE is a more environmentally-friendly product that releases 40% less CO2 than conventional gasoline-powered outboards yet provides double the torque. Not only that, it has features such as low speed control, quick shift capability and easy serviceability that makes it a cut above the existing outboards available in the market. We are pleased to bring this product into China and Southeast Asia to better serve the needs in the region.” Both Messrs Folin and Ow expressed their confidence that OXE is set to attain greater heights in the Chinese and Southeast Asian outboard markets. The onsite New Product Introduction ceremony showcased the engines’ benefits and afforded visitors the chance to see the model in the iron. Several potential clients were enthralled by this innovative product. Many displayed disbelief and delight that there was such a high powered diesel outboard now available in the market. Eworldship – a famed marine website media interviewed Mr Folin and agreed OXE is a state of the art outboard engine which is certain to attract marine operators and/or owners in China. Based on reliable authorized analysis data, the diesel outboard engine market in China and Southeast Asia is set to grow at CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 56% in the next 5 years. This bodes well for distributors, The China Engineers, Ltd and Tractors Singapore Limited with the timely unveiling of OXE. Available in 200hp and now open for order, OXE diesel outboard engines generated much interest from the visitors at the exhibition throughout the 3 days with its innovative technology and striking good looks. TSL and CEL are excited to bring OXE to the markets of China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Southeast Asia and the Maldives, and be part of the exhilarating journey for OXE in the region.
