CONCLUSION

The emphasis of the 2010 State of the Nation Address was concerned with ensuring that the programmes of Government buffer the country from the effects of the global economic crisis of September 2008. These programmes included the EPWP Phase II; capital works programmes; effective service delivery at municipal level; as well as the eradication of corruption. The 2011 State of the Nation Address highlights many of the issues raised in 2010 and extends these priorities, with the inclusion of greater monitoring and evaluation by Parliament, as well as the responsible utilisation of government funds.
