Think Small Do Big This is a group that aims to better the lives of the homeless in D.C., VA, and MD through small kindnesses. TSDB regularly holds volunteer and charity events, such as making sandwiches. We deliver your donations to various charities and NPOs in the area that help the homeless. I encourage everyone to invite people and post here on how to help our local homeless community. Above is the group description from my organizations’ Facebook page. The idea for the group name came from the idea that every day small actions can have a huge effect on someone else’s life. Ever heard the phrase “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”? I have a similar idea. A lot of the things we have in this life, we take for granted. A small sample of hand lotion from the mall, mouth wash, a too big sweater our mom bought us – even breakfast. These are things that we choose to use or not every day. We have a whole closet of options, a whole pantry, a whole fridge of choices; but, what we choose to be ignorant to is that a huge part of our community does not have these options. I know many of my friends grew up eating dinner with our parents and when we didn’t want to finish our dinner, our mother would say “There are kids in Africa starving!” It was her trying to guilt me into eating my food. I always wanted to apologize for getting such a big portion. But I later realized I should have stood up and told her about the thousands of people sick and hungry right down the street from me. People we passed every day on our way out of church. We would give them a few quarters and we’d feel good about ourselves. I want more for them. Anyone can give them a few spare coins. I want to give them warmth. I want to give them food. I can’t give them a better place to sleep right now. But I want to give them a meal in their stomach when they go to bed. I want to give them another option of what to wear tomorrow. But mostly I want to give them a smile on their face when they wake up.

Think Small Do Big

This is a group that aims to better the lives of the homeless in D.C., VA, and MD through small kindnesses.
