Thompson School District Core Belief Statements We Believe: 1. Our primary responsibility is successful student learning. 2. Equal access and opportunity for robust learning and a quality education for all students are critical functions of our educational system. 3. Students, parents and employees can achieve their full potential in an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, caring and understanding. 4. Responsible fiscal stewardship and integrity are critical to the current and future health of the district in achieving its educational mission and maintaining community confidence and long term success. 5. A strong instructional organization recognizes that every student is unique and has different abilities, needs and learning styles that require a range of effective educational strategies. 6. Students, employees and volunteers function best in a safe and secure environment. 7. A preferred and quality educational system is one where students learn and demonstrate that they think critically, work cooperatively, communicate effectively and act ethically. 8. A world class education, integrating academic and vocational skill mastery, prepares students for the challenges, opportunities and careers of a competitive global society. 9. Innovative approaches to education provide for students to develop their interests, passions, and unique talents and are engaged in relevant learning experiences. 10. Effective use of technology creates more powerful instructional and learning systems and enables students to communicate and compete in a global environment. 11. Relationships and partnerships with the community are essential to a successful educational system. 12. A superior educational environment requires exceptional employees supported by effective professional development and personnel practices that attract and retain quality employees. 13. A quality education is best achieved when parents, students, employees and the Governing Board hold themselves accountable for decisions, actions and student learning.

1. Make Thompson School District the uniquely preferred choice for families inside and outside the district.

2. Focus on maximizing student achievement for all children.

3. Promote student participation in visual and performing arts, athletics and other co-

curricular activities.

4. Develop and implement a plan to attract and retain quality employees.

5. Analyze needs and update the technology plan to provide the infrastructure for organizational efficiency to effectively meet student and employee needs in a 21st century environment.

6. Ensure fiscal responsibility by maintaining a balanced budget with long range focus, clarity and planning to equitably support student learning.

7. Optimize the effective use of district resources and facilities to meet student learning needs.

8. Ensure post secondary readiness opportunities for all high school students through integrated, rigorous and relevant academic and vocational curriculum.

9. Engage the community and parents as active partners in the objectives, activities and performance of the district and its students.

10. Develop safe and secure campuses through the implementation of security practices that include disaster and threat preparedness, development of community partnerships with emergency responders, as well as, related technological systems for communication and deterrence.
