Monday ISSUE 19: 13.04.20 With Miss Emilie Dance & Theatre Background Commedia dell'arte, also known as "Italian comedy," was a humorous theatrical presentation performed by professional actors who traveled in troupes throughout Italy in the 16th century. Performances took place on temporary stages, mostly on city streets, but occasionally even in court venues. The characters were what we refer to as ‘stock characters’ including Zanni, Pantalone, Brighella, Il Dottore, Il Capitano, Arlecchino, Pulcinella and Colombina. The iconic ‘Harlequin’ came from Commedia dell’arte as well as the use of masks. Its slap stick style delivery makes its plays very entertaining and this style of comedy is a direct origin for some of the famous shows we enjoy today such as: Pantomimes, Tom and Jerry, Laurel and Hardy, Mr Bean, Charlie Chaplin, Fawlty Towers, Punch and Judy and Loony Toons. Water resistance is a key to healthy skin. The combination of water and oil molecules create the super-strong barrier that keeps bad stuff out and good stuff in. An imbalance of these two molecules is often the beginning of skin problems. When your skin starts to change as you grow up, pay attention to its dryness, oiliness or irritation to try and get the balance right.
