Innovation in screening

Metso Minerals has continued its’history of innovation with

the development of the TS Screen Series.

The Nordberg TS Screen is a triple-slope design capable of

increasing capacity while maximizing efficiency.

The achievement of increasing both efficiency and capacityhas been accomplished with the combination of:

- Multi-slope separation technology

- Variable, elliptical screen box motion.

Multi Slope technology

The TS Screen utilizes three decreasing sloped sections per

deck to manipulate the velocity of material as it passes over

the screening media.

Variable elliptical throw

The vibrating mechanism is strategically located on the

screen to provide an elliptical motion, which shifts along the

length of the screen. The shift in vibration pattern compli-ments the changing slopes and results in increased capacity

and efficiency.

Explanation of triple slope principle

- The first section of the screen is the steepest. Here the

material travels very quickly, resulting in a low bed depth

and rapid removal of undersize particles.

- The less steep mid-section is similar to a conventional

inclined screen.Velocity of particles reduces and bed depth

remains low due to the removal of fines in the upper sec-

tion.

- The last section of the triple deck screen is a low angle sec-tion. The low angle and change in elliptical throw cause

material to be retained longer on this section. This increas-

es efficiency by removing any remaining undersize.

Rubber suspension

The Nordberg TS screens use rubber suspension which have

numerous benefits over steel springs:

General arrangement

Nordberg TS screens are fitted with a shaft line made of

modular vibrators connected through a cardan shaft. The

two modular vibrators are strictly identical.

Nordberg modular vibrators: MV Series

MV vibrators are a simple and reliable design. They offer full

interchangeability between screens which makes mainte-

nance easier .

Design

The Nordberg modular vibrator consists of a shaft mounted

on two bearings (designed for vibrating applications) with

counterweights at each end.

Grease lubrication of the bearings makes the vibrator very

compact and prevents leakage (no oil).An automatic grease

lubrication system is available as an option. Counterweightsare adjustable to provide easy stroke adjustment to fine-tune the screening action.

Nordberg modular vibrator Exchange Service

If your MV modular vibrator requires replacement or over-

haul, it can be returned to Metso Minerals as part of our

exchange program.

Several Nordberg MV vibrators are stocked in MetsoMinerals’s warehouses to ensure quick delivery and minimal

downtime.

The new modular vibrator can be quickly installed (two or

three hours) in place of the old one and the machine will be

back in service. This eliminates timely servicing and replace-

ment of bearings and other components common to most

vibrating equipment.

Rebuilt Nordberg MV vibrators are warranted with confi-

dence as a result of complete overhaul, tolerance checks andreplacement of key components at the factory.

Nordberg Triple Slope screens have been developed accord-

ing to strict and sophisticated Research and Development

Program using the most modern design engineering tools

and technology.

3D design and Final Element ModelingNordberg Triple Slope Screens have been designed with the

help of 3D CAD software in conjunction with Final Element

Modeling. These sophisticated calculations optimize the

dimensioning of the entire screen and all its’ components.

The result is the correct amount material in the right loca-

tion.

Consequently,Nordberg TS Screens are built strong for years

of durability, and are at the same time have weight advan-

tages when it comes to structural requirements.

As a part of prototype testing, a stress gauge program was

implemented to verify that stress levels were low under

operating conditions.Metso Minerals as taken all precautions to maintain its’lead-

ership in offering the best products available.

Application

Nordberg Triple Slope Screens feature a unique combination

of characteristics that result in higher capacity, better effi-

ciency and longer service life than conventional horizontal

or inclined screens.

The Nordberg TS screens are used for secondary and final

sizing applications. They are required for high feed capacity

with maximum feed size, high bed depth and high screening

efficiency,for quarries, mining or industrial applications.

Triple Slope Screens can accept higher depth for equivalent

screening surface than conventional units.

The Nordberg TS screens are suitable for high capacity sta-

tionary,skid mounted or portable plant installations.
