Morning English - Reading and Viewing

Select a novel (either from your home bookshelf or anonline library) that you have not read before. You willread this novel during these sessions this term and,each week, will complete the relevant activitiesexplained in: Stage 3 Book Club

Try to select a novel that is additional to any others you are reading at the moment. The novelyou choose is just for you to read during these lessons.

Education Week

Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW publiceducation and the achievements of our schools, students andeducation system.

This year Education Week will run from Monday 26 to Friday 30July 2021, celebrating the theme Lifelong Learners.

Education Week is your chance to celebrate the achievements ofour school, students and learning community.

At LPS this year, we are creating an exhibition of student work to be displayed on our fencesfor the community to see.

To contribute, you will need to complete and submit the task in your Google Classroom byTuesday at 4pm. Your teacher will then print, laminate and display your work on the fence, somake sure you look out for it as you walk or drive by.

PDH - Bike Safety

Ask a family member or a friend to suggest somes excuses children may use for not wearinga helmet or protective gear when riding a bicycle scooter or skateboard

Record their response on some paper or on a Google Doc.

Now, reflect on your own thoughts about wearing a helmet orprotective gear when riding a bike, scooter or skateboard.

What are some positive and negative influences when it comes to Bike Safety?

Go to the Google Doc - Influences in Bike Safety assigned on your Google Classroom and fillin the table with your thoughts.

Visual ArtsWatch the YouTube video: Demystifying Art StylesSelect one of the art styles featured (or another art style you are interested in) and makesome notes about the features of this art style.

Then, follow the instructions in Seesaw - Exploring Art Styles to create your own artwork.There are lots of ways to create your own artwork, including:

- Acrylic paint- Watercolour- Pastels or crayons- Coloured pencils- Graphite pencils- Textas- Digitally - using an app such as Sketchbook, Ibis Paint or Seesaw- Collage using paper, fabric or objects

Learning intention: We are learning to brainstorm and select great ideas for apersuasive text.

Activity: Work through the following Google Slide to learn how to plan your persuasivewriting for success. You will need to record your responses on either a copy of thispresentation, a Google Doc or a piece of paper.

Here are two videos showing different ways to becreative. You may try one of these or attempt adifferent creative activity of your own choosing.

Middle Mathematics - Balancing Equations

Learning Intention: We are learning to balance equations in multiplication and divisionproblems.

Warm up: Set a timer for five minutes. See how many times you can write out your 7 and8 times tables before the timer goes off. Can you complete it more than once? Set asecond 5 minute timer and have another go. Did you improve on your score?

Balancing EquationsOpen for the start of today’s lesson. Remember to click on the yellowLesson 2speaker button on the slide for an explanation of the content and what you need to do!

Then, log in to Seesaw and complete the worksheet assigned by your teacher. Makesure you submit your work when you are finished.

Challenge: Complete the A Square of Numbers problem.

Travel with Backpack Bear as he makes hisway around the country!

Log into your Stage 3 Library GoogleClassroom to complete weekly researchquizzes. Questions will be based on Australianfacts about its history, geography and people.Points are awarded for correct answers, which will give Backpack Bear passage aroundthe map. You track his progress! He will need 240 points to complete the whole journey,so answer carefully! The questions will be released each Monday in the GoogleClassroom and will include the answers to the previous week for you to check your work.You will have until the following Monday to turn them in, so feel free to work on thisduring the weekend – maybe get your family involved and work together as a team!

STEAM - Design a Trampoline!Using materials you have at home or can access at school,design a trampoline that can bounce a small object (such as amarble) after it is dropped from 30cm high. Your challenge is todesign a trampoline that will bounce the marble the highest.In your design process, you must:

- Consider what will be most effective to bounce the marble- Draw and label your design- Write a list of materials you need

You will have time to build your trampoline on Friday!
