LABELLING ITEMS Please make sure that ALL items of clothing, school bags, lunch boxes and drink bottles are clearly labelled. Thank you. FIRST AID NOTE We provide; band aids, stingose, savlon,

cold packs, bandages. We will administer prescribed medications

as per your instructions. In case of medical emergency we will

administer : ventolin, epipens & call 000. This will occur even if your child is NOT asthmatic or does not have a registered allergy as they may be having their first reaction at school.

However we need permission from you to administer Panadol/Nurofen/Clarytine in the case of mild illness. Please fill out the “Update Contact Details 2020” form attached.

SPELLING MASTERY VOLUNTEERS Parents and grandparents are asked to volunteer as tutors in the morning from 9.00—9.30am. Tuesday to Thursday. If you are able to help on any or all of these days, contact your child’s class teacher. There will be training available for new volunteers. Please see the attached note if you are able to assist in any way.

STAGE 3 CAMP TO CANBERRA Notes were sent home on Wednesday with students in Years 5 & 6. Please ensure they are returned promptly.

SCHOOL BAND Band resumes next Monday 3rd February. If your child is interested in joining/rejoining the band, the criteria for participation are as follows: Students must be in Year 2 or above. Musicians: must be taking music lessons Vocalists: must participate in the audition

process (date to be announced). Cost: $25.00/term Minimum commitment = 1 semester (2

terms) Students must commit to forfeiting their lunch break every Monday for band (they will have 10 minutes to eat first). They must be willing to assist in setting up and packing the down each week. Band performances mostly occur in the evenings or weekends so a permission note will be sent home when necessary.

2020 WELCOME BARBEQUE The welcome Barbeque is a wonderful event which not only allows families to catch up after the summer break but to meet the new families that have joined our school community. Everyone is invited next Friday, Feb 7th at 5.30pm. A sausage

sizzle & drink will be provided. Please bring a plate to share.

P&C MEETINGS P&C Meetings are held twice per term (usually Week 3 & 7 at 6pm). Our first meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday 11th February at 6pm and we hope to see as many existing and new families as possible represented. A reminder that the work carried out by the P&C is for the benefit of all children attending our wonderful school and that many hands makes light work! We look forward to seeing you all there!

HEALTHY LUNCHES A reminder that students need healthy lunches (11.30am) and recess (1.30pm) at school. Please do not send your child to school with packet food such as chips, twisties or sweeties. Suitable foods include fruits, vegetable sticks, sandwiches, cheese sticks, savoury biscuits with topping, yoghurt. etc. Remember to pack an extra piece of fruit or vegetables for Crunch & Sip (10am).

COSTS FOR Term 1 2020

School Contribution (2020) : Our Non-compulsory School Fees this year remain the same as 2019 that being $40 per child, $80 for two children or $100 a family. Your contributions are important to us. School contributions are due at your earliest convenience and may be made in term instalments if required.

Additional Programs : This year our additional program costs for Mathletics (K-6), Reading Eggs (K-1), Typing Tournament (K-6), Mind Time (K-6) and Chinese language class (2-6) is $60 per student. These programs are offered at a reduced cost and have proven to be very successful as key learning tools both in our classrooms and at home.

Band : The cost is $25 per student per term. (minimum 1 semester commitment)

Swimming Carnival: The cost will be $9/students turning 8 and over in 2020 Stage 1/2 Excursion to Jenolan Caves —Excursion: $20 (do not send payment for this until

permission note is distributed Stage 3 Excursion—Canberra: Cost $350 Payments may be made by cash or cheque to the school office or via our Parent Online Payment (POP) system that is accessible via the school website : www.oconnell-p.schools.nsw.edu.au From the home page, click on the “Make a Payment” tab and follow the prompts from there.

CAR PARK ETIQUETTE

Pedestrian Access to cars parked in Blacks Mill Lane must be via the grassed oval and the school steps. Do not walk up or down school driveway. Younger siblings and school children must be supervised by parents at all times when crossing school driveway and once on Black’s Mill Lane.
