NEXTECH®

Over the past 20 years, metal-seated ball valves have come to dominate the market for isolation in severeapplications in the process and production arena. The advantages of the ball valve include very high flow rates (Cv),protected sealing areas when in the open and closed position, and the ability to operate in the presence of solids andother contamination.

As ball valves have become more widely used in the process industries, the trunnion-style has come to dominate wheresevere conditions exist. This is due to relatively low torque for operation and long life in high-cycle conditions.However, until now, this design was limited by the fact that it was adapted from pipeline operations where the operatingconditions are typically less severe. The challenges of industry have now been met with the NEXTECH® design fromValvtechnologies. The NEXTECH® trunnion-mounted ceremet-seated ball valve is designed to withstand severe thermalswings without leaks, meet stringent emission requirements from the packing and body seals, and provide long life inabrasive/erosive conditions.

For over 20 years, Valvtechnologies has been the industry leader in the manufacture of Zero-Leakage, Severe-Service valves for the Power and Process Industries. The NEXTECH® design incorporates many of the features ofour traditional “fixed-floating” design into this new lower-torque, bi-directional valve.

Solids ResistanceIn addition to the carbide coatings whichwill allow the valve to function in highly

abrasive applications, the individual valveparts will have additional seals to preventinterference from solids in the system.This provides for outstanding performancein catalyst systems, streams with solidscontamination, polymers, etc.

Live Loaded Gland AreaThis valve is supplied with the proven Valvtechnologiesgland packing design that features a four stud, live-loaded stem assembly designed for heavy industrialapplications. The packing itself is high-purity Grafoil®surrounded by Carbon Fiber/Inconel anti-extrusionwindings. Unlike stuffing boxes in competitive trunnionvalves designed for pipeline applications, this system isfully adjustable and accessible. The six Bellville springson each stud provide constant load pressure throughextreme thermal shocks, and prevent leaks due to wearin high-cycle service.

High Integrity Seat SealsTo prevent leaks around the trunnionseats, Valvtechnologies has developedan innovative seal design. For hightemperature operation, these seals aremanufactured from Grafoil®. In lowtemperature, high cycling service, asecondary elastomer seal will beinstalled on the seat perimeter.

Carbide Sealing SurfacesOn all Nextech valves, the sealing surfaces will beoverlayed with Tungsten or Chromium Carbide usingour exclusive RAM process. These surfaces will have ahardness of 68-72 RC (8-10 times that of Stellite VI) toallow long periods of operation in the most severeconditions. The ball and seats are diamond lapped toachieve at least a class VI shut-off in both highand low pressure conditions. This design has beenproven to allow more than 1,000,000 cycles beforemaintenance is required.
