Trumpet TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH VOLUME 37 • ISSUE 2 FEBRUARY 2013 Valentines and Jesus M arriage is perhaps the most important institution created by the Father. Finding that one special person to spend the rest of your life with while serving God is a blessing that is hard to put into words. This Valentine’s Day all of us who have been blessed with a spouse or are in a romantic relationship need to take the opportunity to thank God, as well as, express our love to the one we love by doing something very special for them, and yet, we must remember that it isn’t marriage that is meant to fulfill us. Jesus was never married nor did He date, and yet He lived a perfect and full life. It was Jesus’ relationship with God that gave Jesus’ life its meaning and purpose. Jesus was never really alone. Even when He was in the desert the Father was only a prayer away. Jesus didn’t worry about what others thought about Him because His security and confidence came not from His relationships with the people around Him but from His relationship to the Father (Jeremiah 17:7-8). The wonderful truth about the manner in which Christ was fulfilled is that it shows that anyone can live life to the fullest and find satisfaction regardless of whether they are single or married. Truly marriage is a blessing, but we should not seek in our spouse what is intended to be found in God and God alone. Often as I talk with people about their marriage I sense they are experiencing disappointment because they expect something from the marriage that perhaps God never intended. God uses our spouse to help bring us joy and support in this world, but true fulfillment can only come through our relationship with Christ. As Valentine’s Day approaches I want to encourage you to find your worth in Christ above all others. Remember that you are the Bride of Christ and our ultimate relationship is the one we have with Jesus. In this truth all other relationships find their worth and become healthy. Valentines and JesusMarriage is perhaps the most important institution created by the

Father. Finding that one special person to spend the rest of your life with while serving God is a blessing that is hard to put into

words.
