Description of the deviceThis device uses the principle of condensation to auto-matically dehumidify rooms. The fan sucks damp room air through the air inlet (7),the air filter (8), the evaporator and to the condenserlocated behind it. The air is cooled at the cold evapo-rator until it is below the dew point. Water vapour con-tained in the room air precipitates on the evaporatorfins as either condensation or frost. The dehumidified, cooled air is rewarmed at the condenser and blownout at a temperature of approx. 5 °C above room tem-perature. The drier air which is prepared in this waymixes with the air in the room. The humidity in theroom where the device is positioned is reduced as airconstantly circulates through the device. Dependingon the air temperature and the relative humidity, thecondensed water either drops continuously or onlyduring the defrost phase into the condensation trayand through the integrated drain nozzle into the con-densation tank (3) below. This is fitted with a float tomeasure the fill level. The device has a controlpanel (1) for operating and controlling the functions.Once the maximum fill level of the condensationtank (3) is reached, the condensation tank indicatorlight (see chapter "Operating elements") on the con-trol panel (1) flashes. The device switches off. Thecondensation tank indicator light only goes out againonce the emptied condensation tank (3) is reinserted. The condensed water can be diverted by attaching ahose at the condensation plug (6). The device can re-duce the relative humidity of a room by up to approx.49 %. It provides additional assistance for drying wetwashing or clothing in living or working spaces. Because of the heat radiation which is tied up in oper-ation, the room temperature can rise by approx. 1- 4 °C.

• Do not use the device in atmospheres containingoil, sulphur, chlorine or salt.

• Set the device in an upright and stable position.

• Do not expose the device to directly squirting wa-ter.

• Ensure that the air inlet and outlet are not obstruc-ted.

• Ensure that the side of the device where the air in-let is found is kept free of dirt and loose objects.

• Never insert objects into the device.

• Do not cover or transport the device during opera-tion.

• Ensure that all electric cables outside of the deviceare protected from damage (e.g. from animals).

• Only use extensions to the electric cable which areappropriate to the device power consumption, thelength of its cable and its use. Avoid electricaloverload.

• Only transport the device in an upright positionwith an emptied condensation tank.

• Dispose of the collected condensation. Do notdrink it. There is a risk of infection!

The device is not suitable for drying rooms and areasafter water damages from burst pipes or flooding.

Intended useUse the device TTK 31 E only for drying and dehumidi-fying room air, while adhering to and following thetechnical data.

Intended use encapsulates: • drying and dehumidifying:

– living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms or base-ments

– laundries, holiday homes, camper vans, boats

• maintaining the dryness of:

– store rooms, archives, laboratories

– bathrooms, wash rooms and changing rooms

Improper useDo not place the device on damp or flooded ground.Do not use the device outdoors. Do not lay any ob-jects, e.g. wet clothing, on the device for drying. Anyunauthorised changes, modifications or alterations tothe device are forbidden.

Personnel qualificationsPeople who use this device must:

• be aware of the dangers that occur when workingwith electric devices in damp areas.

• take measures to protect themselves from directcontact with live parts.

• have read and understood the operating manual, especially the "Safety" chapter.

Maintenance tasks which require the housing tobe opened must only be carried out by specialistcompanies for cooling and air-conditioning or byTROTEC®.

Residual risksHazardous electric current!Work on the electrical components mustonly be carried out by an authorised spe-cialist company!

Hazardous electric current! Before any work on the device, removethe mains plug from the mains socket!

Safety

EN Operating Manual – Dehumidifier TTK 31 E 5

Caution! To avoid damages to the device, neveroperate the device without an air filter in-serted!

Danger!Dangers can occur at the device when itis used by untrained people in an unpro-fessional or improper way! Observe thepersonnel qualifications!

Behaviour in the event of an emergency1. Disconnect the device from the mains power in an

emergency.

2. Do not reconnect a defective device to the mainspower.

To make the device easier to transport, it is fitted withlateral carry handles. Before transporting the device, proceed as follows:

1. Switch off the device at the mains switch (seechapter "Operating elements").

2. Remove the mains plug from the mains socket.Do not use the power cable to drag the device!

3. Empty the condensation tank. Check for drippingcondensation.

After transporting the device, proceed as follows:1. Set the device in an upright position after trans-

port.

2. Wait one hour before switching the device on!

StorageWhen out of use, store the device as follows:

• dry,

• with a roof overhead,

• in an upright position where it is protected fromdust and direct sunlight,

• with a plastic cover to protect it from invasive dust,if necessary.

• The storage temperature is the same as the rangegiven for the operating temperature in the chapter"Technical data".

• After being switched on, the device operates fullyautomatically until either a pre-set timer or thefloat indicating that the condensation tank is fulltakes care that the device switches itself off.

• So that the built in sensor can correctly detect thehumidity, the fan continues to operate until the de-vice is switched off.

• Avoid open doors and windows.

PositioningWhen positioning the device, observe the minimumdistance from walls of other objects as described inchapter "Technical data".

• Set the device in a level and stable position.

• If possible, set the device in the middle of a roomand keep it away from sources of heat.

• When positioning the device in wet areas such aslaundries, bath rooms or the like, secure the de-vice locally with an RCD (Residual Current protec-tive Device) which complies with the appropriateregulations.

• Ensure that extension cords are completely un-rolled.

Notes regarding the dehumidifying capacityThe dehumidifying capacity depends on:

• the spatial composition of the room

• the room temperature

• the relative humidity

The higher the room temperature and relative humidi-ty, the higher the dehumidifying capacity. For using in living rooms, a relative humidity of ap-prox. 50-60 % is sufficient. In store rooms and ar-chives, the humidity should not exceed approx. 50 %.

The accurate functionality of the device was testedduring production a number of times. However, iffunctionality faults do occur, then check the deviceaccording to the following list.

The device does not start:• Check the mains power

(230 V/1~/50 Hz).

• Check the mains plug for damages.

• Have the electrics checked by a specialist compa-ny for cooling and air-conditioning or by TROTEC®.

The device runs but forms no condensation:• Check the condensation tank is positioned correct-

ly. Check the fill level of the condensation tank andempty it if necessary. The condensation tank indi-cator light must not light up.

• Check the float in the condensation tank for dam-ages. If necessary, clean the float and condensa-tion tank. The float must be able to move freely.

• Check the room temperature. The working rangeof the device is between 5 °C and 35 °C.

• Ensure that the relative humidity complies with thetechnical data.

• Check that the selected humidity is realistic. Thehumidity in the room must be above the selectedrange. Reduce the selected desired humidity bypressing the "Arrow down" key (11), if necessary.

• Check the air filter is not dirty. If necessary, cleanor replace the air filter.

• From the outside, check the condenser for dirt (seechapter "Maintenance"). If your condenser is dirty, have it cleaned by a specialist company for coolingand air-conditioning or by TROTEC®.

The device is loud or vibrates; condensation leaks:• Check whether the device is standing upright and

on an even surface.

The device gets very warm, is loud or is losingperformance:

• Check the air inlets and air filter are not dirty. Re-move external dirt.

• Check the inside of the device and especially thefan, the fan housing, the evaporator and the con-denser for external dirt (see chapter "Mainte-nance"). If the inside of the device is dirty, have itcleaned by a specialist company for cooling andair-conditioning or by TROTEC®.

Does your device still not operate correctly afterthese checks?Bring the device to a specialist company for coolingand air-conditioning or to TROTEC® for repairs.
