I was a college athlete so one of the first people I met at the university was the trainer and as the professional relationship grew, so did our friendship. I received extra time on the treatment table, and I guess in his dreams, although I was unaware of that aspect of his attention until I was actually married. Years passed, life happened, and as my marriage evaporated, he finally came to
me, and because I was silly, self-centered, confused, unaware, foolish, and most likely undeserving, he went away. He continues to be my go-to man-friend, returning again, and again as needed,
like he is the center of my rag-tag, always evolving soul. When we question why this is our reality, we are in agreement that, in another lifetime, we were together, and are meant to be attached now, but not really. And maybe that is what will do me best as I’ve tried everything else.
