trouble maker music vid - reflection

When I created this music video to Olly Mur's Trouble Maker collaboratively with two others I learnt a few things about the music video creating process. I learnt that it is recommended to take the song's lyrics printed out with you when filming as it takes a long time to learn a song fully from memory. It is also very good to list ideas down for the music video which have at least a loose idea on the shot type as with some of our ideas we did not have the shot types down so it took longer to choose these types when actually out filming. The singing of the song was slightly difficult to remember the words even from reading them just before starting the shot due to some slight nerves however we used mostly narrative footage with our music video. It took a while to sort the footage as many of the shots were not in a specific order which for the future I will remember to have a more structured script of the music video which will save time and confusion. The first shot uses a long shot which then zooms into my person in the bushes (me) which gives a humorous effect I think making it look like there is some sort of wildlife being studied. We used multiple tripod shots with the action going on within the frame being directed towards the audience which think created an oddly interesting atmosphere to the music video.

A medium shot cuts to a close-up shot of me turning Jacob’s computer off, this technique was used to emphasize the turning off of the computer.

Jump cuts were added when I was making my way down some stairs and when Aiden was next to me going down a slope on his skateboard. This was to not make the long timed shot boring and to also create a energetic feel to relate to the fact we are youths.

We used time-lapse when I was creating a paper aeroplane to throw at Jacob’s face to again make it not boring but to also add an interesting look to the alternating over shoulder shots.

The shot then fades to black concluding the end of the music video
