Congo River BasinThe Congo River's flow and water levels are
affected by the rains year round. It is the effects of rainfall throughout the regions
whose rivers and tributaries contribute to the Congo River that influence the fluctuations in
the flow of the river. However, because the Congo basin is an immense area, the weather pattern in one particular region will not have much effect on the river's overall levels. For
example, heavy rainfall in the northern areas that contribute to the Ubangi River may cause
flooding in the region itself, but would generally not lead to a drought in a southern portion of the Congo basin. Because of the
vastness of the area, by the time the river's waters join together, very little effect will be seen. This allows the river's flow to balance
out and not change too drastically during the year.

Mimosaceae
• The Mimosaceae are mostly tropical and subtropical trees and shrubs comprising about 40 genera and 2,000 species.
•The leaves are nearly always alternate, stipulate, and bipinnately compound (rarely once-pinnate)
• They usually have swollen petiole bases called pulvini that commonly function in orientation of the leaves (remember the
sensitive plant, Mimosa pudica). •The inflorescence is commonly a capitulum (also called a head). • The flowers are hypogynous to slightly perigynous, have radial
symmetry, petals that are valvate in bud, and commonly a 5-parted calyx and corolla. The stamens are distinct to strongly
monadelphous, numerous (rarely as few as 10), and are generally more showy than the perianth.
• The pistil is simple, comprising a single style and stigma, and a superior ovary with 2-many marginal ovules in a solitary locule.
• The fruit is usually a legume.
