1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Tron AIS-SART is a battery powered AIS emergency transmitter in a sealedwaterproofenclosureconsistingof:

1.TronAIS-SARTunit2.Mountingropeforliferafts/lifeboats.

TheTronAIS-SARTisdevelopedbyJotronAStomeettherulesandregulationsforuseonvesselsandliferaftsinthemaritimeservice.TronAIS-SARTmeetsthespecificationsforuseinsearchandrescueopera-tionsatsea.

TheoperatingrangeoftheTronAIS-SARTis7-10nauticalmilesfromvesselAISClass-A,andmorethan40nauticalmilesfromanairborneAISreceiver.

TronAIS-SARTisbuoyant,howevertoobtainmaximumperformance,theunitshouldbeplaced inaverticalpositionandashighupaspossible inordertoachievemaximumcoverage.

Severalmountingbracketsandmountingaidsareavailabletoensurecorrectmountinganduseoftheradarunit.

The purpose of the Tron AIS-SART is to perform a secondary alarm whensearchandrescueunitsaresearchingfora liferaft/ lifeboat indistress.TheTron AIS-SART includes a built-in GPS, which will help the units to pinpointexactlywherethedistressedboatislocatedinalargerarea.ThisisdonewiththehelpoftheAISonthesearchingshiporhelicopter.Whenstarted,theTronAIS-SARTsendsitspositiondatainanordinaryAISmessage.

InadditiontheTronAIS-SARTsendsasafetytextmessageeveryforthminute,containingtext: “AISSART”.Thiswillbe receivedbyotherAISsystemswithintherange.

ThebatteriesoftheTronAIS-SARTwilllastatleast96hourswhenactivated.

Tosavebatterycapacityincaseofasituationwheretheunitisneeded,theuseshouldbelimitedtotestsandemergencysituations.

1.1 TRON AIS-SART FEATURESWatertight:TronAIS-SARTiswatertighttoadepthofminimum1meter.

Buoyant:Tron AIS-SART is buoyant in case the unit is accidentally dropped into thewater.ToincreasecoveragetheAIS-SARTshouldalwaysbeheldormountedashighaspossible.

Rugged design:The Tron AIS-SART will withstand a drop from 20 meters into the water. It isresistanttoseawater,oilandsunlight.

Handling:TronAIS-SARTisdesignedforeasyoperation,withabriefoperatinginstructionprintedontheunit.Itcomesstandardwitha10meterropeandashacklehooktobeusedforhangingtheAIS-SARTontheinsideofaliferaft.

Indicators:TronAIS-SARTisequippedwithtwocoloredLEDs,onegreenandonered.TheLEDswillgivevisualstatusofoperationandfaults.Inadditionabuiltinbuzzerbeepsregularlytoindicateoperation.

6 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING

6.1 MAINTENANCETronAIS-SARTrequiresthefollowingmaintenance:

Every monthTheunitshouldbetakenoutofitsbracketandtestedusingtheprocedureinchapter5.1.

Every 5 yearsThebatteryunitmustbereplacedevery5year.Storageofbatteriesoveralongperiodoftimewillreducetheircapacity.Toensurelongandreliableoperationthebatteryunitmustbereplacedevery5year.Thebatteryreplacementcanbeperformedonboardusingtheprocedureinchapter6.2.1.

6.2 SERVICEWarranty ServiceAllgoodssoldbytheCompanyarewarrantedtobefreefromdefectinwork-manshipandmaterialfortheperiodoftwenty-four(24)monthsfromthedateofdelivery(unlessstatedotherwiseandconfirmedinwritings).Forfurtherinfor-mation,seepos.6“Guarantee”inourTermsandConditionsofSale.

Providedthattheunit(s)returnedforrepairisunderwarranty,man-hourcostandmaterialcostwillbecoveredbyJotron.Thisisnotvalidifthecustomerhastriedtorepair,modifyorrebuildtheunit,oriftheunithasbeenexposedtoen-vironmentalconditionsoutsidethespecificationsfortheunit.

Iftheunitisinneedofrepair,pleasereturnitcarriagepaidtotheagentthatyoupurchaseditfrom.

Additional costs not related to repair/replacement of the unit will not becovered.
