ACTS 3:1-10 (NIV)
1One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.6Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walk-ing and jumping, and praising God. 9When all the people saw him walking and praising
God, 10they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had hap-pened to him.
11:00 a.m.
ACTS 3:1-10 (The Message)
1-5One day at three o’clock in the afternoon, Peter and John were on their way into the Temple for prayer meeting. At the same time there was a man crippled from birth being carried up. Every day he was set down at the Temple gate, the one named Beautiful, to beg from those going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter the Temple, he asked for a handout. Peter, with John at his side, looked him straight in the eye and said, “Look here.” He looked up, expecting to get something from them.6-8Peter said, “I don’t have a nickel to my name, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!” He grabbed him by the right hand and pulled him up. In an instant his feet and ankles became firm. He jumped to his feet and walked.
8-10The man went into the Temple with them, walking back and forth, dancing and praising God. Everybody there saw him walking around and praising God. They recognized him as the one who sat begging at the Temple’s Gate Beautiful and rubbed their eyes, astonished, scarcely believing what they were seeing.

Confession of Sins
Almighty and Most Merciful Father, we come before You, acknowledging our sins, our shortcomings, and our breaking of our Covenant with You.
Not only have we done things we ought not to have done, said things we ought not to have said, left undone so many things we ought to have done and
been silent when we should have witnessed for You.
Not only are we guilty of that, O Lord; but we have also closed our eyes and pretended not to see the injustices, the racism and the evil which pervade our everyday lives.
We have shut our ears and pretended not to hear the cries for liberation which come from the lips, lives and hearts of the oppressed – even our own Black brothers and sisters!
Forgive us, O Lord, renew our courage and faith, and keep us ever mindful of Thy great sacrifice. Hear us, we beseech Thee, as we come to You in love and worship giving Your Name the praise forevermore.
******To All Our Visitors ... To all who mourn and need comforting ... To all who are friendless and want friendship ... To all who are oppressed and need liberation; and to whosoever will come, Trinity opens its doors. Thank you for coming, and may God bless you.
MINISTER: God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, we gather in this sacred space to give voice to the silent tears and pain of the more 25,000 persons in Chicago and the more than 9.8 million persons globally who have been abducted, enslaved, exploited and forced into the sex trafficking industry in the U.S. and the world. Women and girls often are disproportionately impacted by sex trafficking. These are those whom we often misjudge without knowing the story behind what we see with superficial sight.
ALL: Like the blind man in Matthew 9, we believe that You can give us sight, so we cry out “Son of David, have mercy on us.” Grant us a sight that will allow us to see both spiritual and physical pain that the millions of girls, boys, women, and men who are enslaved by the sex trafficking industry and the children in the U.S. who are at risk of being captives of the sex trafficking industry, an unofficial, but very real form of incarceration.
MINISTER: As a people with a history of enslavement, we know what it means to be held captive and treated as less than precious people made in the image of God. Because of Jesus, we were protected and able to endure and resist until freedom came. Lord, because You do not change or lie, we know that You are with the captives of this modern day slavery.
ALL: Jesus, we are asking that You be a hedge of protection around our daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, and neighbors who are the captives of sex trafficking, until freedom comes.
MINISTER: The world of sex and human trafficking is a dangerous space where trickery, drugs, guns, emotional, and physical violence are used as weapons of coercion and control. It generates $32 billion dollars annually in the U.S. and victims are stripped of their God-given dignity. We pray for healing and restoration of those who are victims and those who are the perpetrators.
ALL: Jesus, we are your disciples. We know that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. Open our eyes, ears, and hearts, so that we can hear the silent cries of the captives. Grant us the courage to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind; to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord. Lord, do not let our feet stray from the path of restoration, freedom, and justice for both the victims and the perpetrators. Help us keep fighting, until every captive is set free! Ase’.

As of May 1st, 1,199 members/families have made pledges to our Raise the Roof
campaign. Those pledges now total $4,595,349.
Currently, over half of our membership who opted-in to the Raise the Roof campaign have actually pledged to the campaign. If you have already pledged, it is important that you now begin to meet your pledge commitments. Actual projects can be planned, but not started without actual contributions being received.
Stay informed…
Visit the Raise the Roof web site: www.raisetheroofcampaign.org.
Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” . . . They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.

LIVING GREENMay • Psalm 24:1 (NIV)The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, theworld, and all who live in it.
June • Genesis 1:29-30 (NIV)Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.
July • Job 38:4-7 (NIV)Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundations? Tell me if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together for joy!
August • Deuteronomy 24:19 (NIV)When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

December • Luke 4:18-19 (NIV) The spirit of the Lord is on me, because he anointed me to preach good news to the poor, he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.
