FOR WE ARE GOD’S SERVANTS , WORKING TOGETHER; YOU ARE
GOD’S F IELD, GOD’S BUILDING . 1 CORINTHIANS 3:9
The new Church year is upon us and it promises to be an amazing year at
Trinity Presbyterian Church! As you read this, we are in the last stages of
our sanctuary refurbishment. During this program year, we will celebrate
the 50th anniversary of our beautiful sanctuary and give thanks for the
incredible work of our church family in beautifying our worship space. It is
no exaggeration to say that our church members have given thousands of
hours to redoing our sanctuary. Many hands and hearts have been part of
the labor.
It has been a labor of love and has been a constant sign to me of what is a
definite part of Trinity's DNA. People have worked together to "build" a
wonderfully restored space for our worship. Now I know that I'm stretching
it to say build, but the reality is, many people have worked in the sanctuary
project and given of their time, talent and energy for the good of all of us.
That is the way Trinity works all the time: friends in Christ working
together for the glory of God. What we have been doing physically to our
plant is very much like what we do every year as a church family--we work
together, building a family of faith through prayer and worship, study and
mission.
As we give thanks for the building we call our church home, we also begin
another year of building together our life in Christ. While not all of us have
been able to paint or hang dry wall in the sanctuary, ALL OF US are able to
build the family we call Trinity. As the new Church year begins, I pray that
we will heed the Apostle Paul's words and continue to work together as
God's servants realizing that the building we are truly building is God's life
in our church. If you will join in that holy work, we will all have good
reason to be...
Hoping Big, Greg

Bryfogle. We will be discussing "The Need for Creeds". All ages including children are welcome to
attend. For further information, please call Sue Bryfogle at 856-985-5393.
New to Trinity? Are you a visitor who is interested in what is happening at Trinity or what it
means to be a Presbyterian? Perhaps you are already a member and would like
to learn more. Our next Membership Information Session will be held on
Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 11:00 am. At that time, The Rev. Greg
Faulkner will talk about what it means to be a Presbyterian. He will also talk
about all of the opportunities that Trinity offers. If you are interested in
attending, please email [email protected] or call her at

will be attending. Babysitting will be provided if necessary. This is a great time
for visitors (and members!) to get together and get to know Trinity.
A Thank You Note... Marguerite Houck would like to extend a big thank you to Trinity for all the prayers, calls, and cards that

Children and Youth Ministries
Church School Christian Ministries is looking forward to another rewarding year of
ministering to the children of Trinity.
Church School will start on Rally Day , Sept 14, and classes will be held
until 11am, so that parents will have more time to visit the various
opportunities availed to them at Rally Day. Please stop by our table to
confirm your child's allergy and other information, as well as giving us an
email address, which we can use to keep you up to date on special events
and happenings within the Church School.
We also are in need of a couple of people to take on a lead role in the 2-3 year old class for 1 or 2 weeks per
month, as Connie Brownell (Mrs. B) has retired. Please consider this as a way to participate in the Church
School, without having to teach a formal curriculum. Even if you would just like to lend a set of helping
hands,it would be appreciated. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested.
Nursery School News The 2014-15 School Year has begun at Trinity Nursery School! We are offering
a selection of both AM and PM classes this year. We have limited spaces
available and we would love to show you our wonderful school and give you a
tour of the classrooms.
Our toddler class is for 18-36 month olds who attend with a special adult. We
have had parents, grandparents and babysitters join us for our Friday morning
class. The 2 ½ year old class runs Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs. We have both a 2-
day and a 3-day option for our 3 year olds and our 4 year olds can attend 4 or 5 days. The afternoon class,
our bridg-a-garten program, is for our 4 year olds, as well as morning Kindergartners that want an afternoon
enrichment program. We offer an extended morning program for an additional hour. Our lunch Bunch is a
fun way to end the morning or begin the afternoon session.
We will spend our first month at school getting to know our teachers, new friends and learning our new
schedule, while there may be a few tears at the beginning, from children and their grown-ups! We know
that they will soon give way to smiles, laughter and learning as we get to know each other and enjoy all that
Trinity has to offer! We will learn about farm life, from animals to the harvesting of crops, as well as the
fall season and the beautiful colors that we will see in the changing fall foliage.
In the spring we converted a classroom into a
―recreation station‖ and have been busy painting and
rearranging our play equipment. We are looking
forward to stretching, climbing, jumping, crawling and
skipping throughout the room as we grow and
strengthen our bodies. We would love to show you our
newly painted seasonal murals and show off our Music
and Movement carpet area. Come and see all the new
and exciting activities we have planned for this school
year!

Trinity Deacons Blood Drive
Give Life...Give Love...Donate Blood!
Your Trinity Deacons welcome you back from your summer, hoping that it was fun, restful and
hopefully not too short. Your Deacon committees will do all they can this church year to serve you
and our community. Our next project is the fall Red Cross Blood Drive. We‘re proud to note that our
Trinity Church Blood Drives have always been successful because of the giving hearts of our
members.
Please begin your church year by signing up to donate your blood on Monday, October 6 from 2
PM to 7PM in the Community Room here at the Church. Sign-ups begin Sunday September 21 in
Fellowship Hall during Coffee Hour and continue through October 5. You may also reserve a
donation time at the Red Cross website, www.redcrossblood.org. You may also contact the Red
Cross at 800-RED CROSS. Be sure to mention Trinity Church as the sponsor. Please give…so more
may live!
Popcorn for the Troops
Trinity Presbyterian‘s Boy Scout Troop 3008

local scouting and popcorn is sent to our
military men and women all over the world. If
interested in making a donation, please contact

Mission and Outreach
CROP Walk 2014
Save-the-Date
Cherry Hill CROP Walk 2014 will be held on
October 12th at the Challenge Grove Pavilion
from 1-3 PM.
OOPS , WE DID IT AGAIN!
Don‘t think your Trinity Deacons just sat by the pool and drank
pina coladas all summer (okay, maybe we did a little of that). We
were actually able to summon enough willpower to organize and
execute the 2014 Summer Sharing Food Drive. This drive
distributed food and household supplies to three worthy agencies
serving needy families and individuals in our area: Urban
Promise, Robin‘s Nest, and Food Pantry of Cherry Hill. As usual,
everything was boxed up and delivered by a volunteer force of
Deacons and senior highs. Sincere accolades go to an energetic senior high group and a little
less spritely band of Deacons and of course all who contributed their efforts to make this drive
a success!
Holiday Bazaar- Save-the-Date!
Our 10th annual Holiday Bazaar and Craft Fair will take place on
Saturday, November 15th from 9am to 3pm. We‘re always on
the lookout for new crafters, so if you would like to purchase a
booth, or if you know anyone who would be interested in our
event, please contact Linda Wean at [email protected]. The
fee is $50 per booth. More information is available on our
website, so check it out at www.trinpres.org.

Record Year for Trinity’s Barclay
Farmstead Garden Plot!
We have been blessed this year with beautiful growing weather and an amazing amount of
produce which has been donated all summer to the Cherry Hill Food Pantry. As of August 15th
we had given 516 tomatoes, 66 cucumbers and 29 peppers!! One week alone we took over167
tomatoes! The Food Pantry is so grateful for our fresh produce to add to its clients‘ groceries.
Due to the rain one week, some of the tomatoes were cracked, and we were hesitant to donate
them. But Janet Giordano, Food Pantry Director, said that people were so happy to get fresh
produce, that a few cracks didn‘t matter to them. What a great mission this has been!
Many thanks to our weekly Trinity garden volunteers: Sally Iacono, Karen Leonard Albrect,
Mark Thuer, Melissa and Naomi Smith, Anyce and Mark Miles, Lydia Burgess, Elissa Goss,
Nancy Valente, Janet Cohen, Bill and Karen Kain, Donna Croker, and Doug Gammie. We
also greatly appreciate Jeff DeHart‘s picking up the produce and dropping it off to the Food
10
Care n’ Share Care 'n Share will be opening for
business on Tuesday,
September 16. Your donated
items may be dropped off on
Tuesdays , Thursdays and the
first Saturday of the month from
10 am to 1 pm after that
date. Also, the shop will be open
for drop off following the Sunday, worship service
starting September 7.
Our "first" Saturday will be October 4.
Come visit our table on Rally Day! Sign up to be a
volunteer...it is a lot of fun and a worthwhile
project. All the profits go to local missions. Library Corner Stop by the Library table on Rally Day to see our
array of new books and have an opportunity to donate
one of them in your name.
God’s Tapestry
Reading the Bible in a World of Religious
Diversity By W. Eugene March
―Who we are as a religious people is very much up
for grabs. If we are to move beyond the current status
quo. . .we will need to revisit our foundational
document, the Bible, in light of our new context. With
open eyes and minds we need to reconsider if and
how the Bible can help us as we approach the issues
of diversity and pluralism.‖
The ―new context‖ March is talking about is that it is
only in recent decades that western Christians have
had direct contact with people of other religious
traditions. Thus, questions about the ―truthfulness‖ of
non-Christian religions are more relevant today than
they have been in the past.
For centuries the church has taught that faith in Christ
was the only way to a relationship with God. March
encourages readers to consider whether that is what
the Bible actually teaches. He analyzes key passages
in the Bible to illustrate his point that there may be
many valid ways to consider who God is and to have
a relationship with Him.
Ultimately, March addresses the question of how this
new way of viewing the Bible can help us to better
understand other religions. Particularly with respect to
Islam, how do we overcome the deep-seated
suspicions and ignorance among many Christians and
Muslims concerning one another? Perhaps a new way
of looking at the Bible can help to foster mutual
understanding and cooperation.
W. Eugene March is Professor Emeritus of Old
Testament at Louisville Presbyterian Theological
Seminary.
If you have suggestions for books you’d like to
have in the Trinity Library, contact Dottie Dunfee
(856-795-5126) [email protected] or stop by the
library after church.

New York Bus Trip
Enjoy the excitement and energy of New York City without the transportation
hassles. Now in its ninth year, the semi-annual New York bus trip, sponsored by
Trinity‘s PW, returns on Wednesday, October 22. Trinity members and friends are
invited to structure their own day in New York by participating in this
transportation only bus trip to the Big Apple.
Morning pick-up will be from the Trinity parking lot at 8:00 A.M. and return to
Trinity will be in the 7:30-8:00 P.M. range. Whether you decide to tour a museum,
catch a show, sight-see, or shop, the two drop-off/ pick-up spots in New York, one in
the Times Square area, the other in the Canal Street shopping district, will allow for a wide range of activities.
Those choices are yours.
Although we were able to hold the price of the trip at $30 for the last seventeen trips, the price of this
transportation only trip to New York needs to be changed to $35 this year due to escalating costs. Ticket
sales for the bus trip begin on Rally Day, Sunday, September 14, and will continue through the month of
September or until the bus is filled.
Look for the ticket table in Fellowship Hall after the 9:30 service on Rally Day. Money or checks made out
to "Trinity PW" will be due at the time of sign up. If you have any questions, call Linda Thorpe at
856-428-6233 or Bonnie Jones at 856-983-1197 for more information.
