A Excellent GCSE Results in 2014 28 students

The 2014 Year 11 students achieved wonderful GCSE results, and all the staff are extremely proud of the achievements by our young men and women . Trinity students are maintaining high standards although, as with the rest of the country, the high grades are becoming more difficult to achieve. The percentage of pupils

achieved A*/A in 9 or more

subjects

achieving five or more A *-C grades at GCSE including English and Mathematics is 80% - a truly outstanding achievement rewarding the dedication of your children .

This matches the result achieved by our

Percentage Achieving 5+ A*·C incl. English & Maths students last year rewarding the hard work of Trinity students to maintain high standards despite the numerous changes that have been made to the examination system and the extra demands on the students with linear examinations replacing the modular approach .

The chart on the left, shows the outstanding performance by your sons and daughters. Last year the national figure for students achieving five or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics was 60%; Trinity students achieved results which are 20 percentage points higher than the national. Looking at the chart the blue line for Trinity pupils is significantly higher than the national (pink) line.

The more able pupils did exceptionally well this year with 32% of grades reaching A* or A. The national figure for the percentage of A*/A grades is 21.3%. Students work with dedication and perseverance to achieve these top grades and 28 pupils gained 9 or more A*/A grades, wh ile 17 students achieved 10 or more A*/A grades. Also, in Computing, Food, French, Spanish and Statistics at least 50% of students achieved grade A/ A*.

In Child Development, Media, Music, Spanish and Statistics 100% of pupils achieved A*-C passes. In many other subjects more than 85% of pupils gained A*-C passes (Art, Computing, Dance, English Language, English Literature, Food, French, Geography, History, ICT, Maths, PE and Science).

In English and Mathematics the progress of students from Key Stage 2 to the end of Key Stage 4 is one of the measures used to assess the work of the school. We are very proud that this year 85% of students made the expected level of progress in English and 46% of students made more than the expected level of progress. In Mathematics 87% of students made the expected level of progress and 44% of students made more than the expected level of progress.

A Level Results 2014

20 of 27 A Level subjects achieved a pass rate of 1 00%

and all of them a rate higher than 90%

Trinity's 'AS' and 'A' Level students achieved outstanding results again this year. Although our 'A' Level pass rate is always high, this year's 98.9°/o pass rate ranks amongst our highest ever- a truly fantastic achievement by your sons and daughters! Our main headlines are as follows:

• A* - E pass rate: 98.9°/o. • A*- B pass rate: 51.5°/o • 20 of our 27 'A' Level subjects achieved a pass rate of

1 00°/o. • Your sons' and daughters' 'AS' and 'A' Level

achievements were once again above UK averages in almost every assessable category.

Uc/\s helping students . into higher education 2014 was a very difficult year to

secure a place at university- and particularly at very competitive ones such as those in the 'Russell Group'. However, we are happy to report that 99°/o of Trinity students have been successful in their higher education applications and are looking forward to taking up their places in the next few weeks. Trinity leavers will be studying a wide range of subjects -from Accounting through Medicine to Sport Science - and at universities the length and breadth of the UK (including almost every one of the Russell Group of universities and including three at the University of Oxford). Congratulations and good luck to them all!

The AS Level pass rate was 91.5%. 17 AS Level subjects

achieved pass rates of 90% or higher.
