I have learnt with sadness and regret about this tragic development. He was like an older brother and mentor to me.(Sandile Memele, Author of Flowers of the Nation)

Very sad indeed. He had a lot to still give. His was a fantastic mind and a joy to be around, even in his most opinionated moments there was a lucidity and passion that was mesmerizing. I first met him in Grahamstown in 1999 and he was with his most recent published poet, the genius Sandile Dikeni. It was like listening to an orchestra of highly passionate and compassion music, but made with words, beautiful words. Now silent.Condolences to his family.(Monica Rorvik, Centre for Creative Arts, UKZN )
