Pastor Bergelin’s Message Page 2
Dear Friends In Christ,
The temperature outside is getting cooler. The warm days of summer by in large are coming to an end. We are reminded of the ever changing seasons which remind us in turn of our ever changing lives. We are all at different places in life. Some are children, babies, preschool, elementary school, middle school, high school, college, etc. We may be newlyweds or new parents. Our children may be small or grown. We may be grandparents for the first time or the tenth time. We may live in a house filled with people or we may live alone. We may be in good health or failing health. Whatever our circumstance at the present time, it like the seasons will continue to change. The only one in life that doesn't change is our Lord. He remains the same yesterday, today and forever. He loves us with all His heart every day. His love for His children never cools off like the temperatures. You and I can be warmed by His love and presence every moment of life. No matter where we find ourselves in life, always remember your Lord is there for you. He is with you, and He will never change. None of us have perfect memories. How often don't we forget God's continuous and abiding presence. Especially when we are in the midst of life's changes. This is why we all need a constant supply of God's word in our life. It continues to remind us that our Savior is there. One can never underestimate the value of every Sunday worship in helping us live life in changing times. Word and Sacrament provide the life giving spiritual food to sustain us in our earthly life. All I can do in this newsletter article is encourage you to never neglect the one who will not change in your life.
Serving the Savior,
Pastor Darrel Bergelin

Vicar Coop’s Message Page 3
Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Howards Grove,
Some of you have come to learn that I am a highly scheduled person: I like routines. It brings me comfort and peace when I know my schedule, and I am able to follow it. Maybe you’re like me, maybe you aren’t. But, as we all know, routines are usually broken, and there are things that come up in our lives that we never could have anticipated. No one begins the season thinking they will have a season ending surgery, no one can foresee becoming sick, and no one can anticipate the unexpected loss of loved ones. Our routine and plan for things is always being reorganized to meet the needs of the unanticipated things that come up in our lives. Yet, through everything that happens in our lives, whether penciled into our schedules or not, we see God break through and show His mercy to us.
Jeremiah the prophet wrote in the book of Lamentations, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lam. 3:22-23). Now, we have to understand when Jeremiah was writing these words, and what was happen-ing around him, to cause him to write these words. Jeremiah recorded these words around 587 B.C. or during the time of the Fall of Jerusalem to the Baby-lonian Empire. Talk about a change of routine: God’s chosen people were about to be taken over by the Babylonians and taken away into captivity. Surely this wasn’t all part of God’s plan, was it? Actually, it was part of God’s plan. The people of Israel had strayed so far away from God’s plan for their lives, that He allowed the Babylonian Empire to take over Israel. But, God al-lowed the people of Israel to be taken captive out of love, so that the people
would remember who their true God was, or who their only provider was. This was part of God’s plan to show love to a people who had forgotten to love Him.
So, what does this Old Testament love story have to do with our plans, routines, and lives today? Just as God showed His mercy and love to the people of Israel then, God continues to show us His mercy and love today. The problems the people of Israel faced still plague us today. Yet, God continues to show His provi-sional love to us, through His Son, Jesus Christ, making Him captive to the sin that we would remain captive to. So, God remains faithful to us even when the routines of our lives are interrupted, and the plans of our lives are changed. Truly, great is your love and faithfulness to us, O God!
In Christ,
Vicar Andrew Coop

November is pizza making time.

What are we looking forward
to? As our lives on earth contin-
ue to pass us by, day after day
we look forward to the next
stage of our life. Little children
look to become teens, teens to
graduate high school, then on to
college or into the workforce. Marriage follows for
many, then kids of your own, then empty nesters and
on into retirement. We wonder how we got to any
given point in our lives. One day, one month, one year
at a time… that’s how. For each one of us time is
fleeting.
For us as Christians, we have God’s peace and the joy
of eternal life through the body and blood of Christ at
Calvary. We should not take our days for granted for
all of our time is a great gift and a treasure from God.
May we as Christians be beacons onto the world no
matter what stage of life we are at. And that we
would live our lives as Christ did and share the Gospel
with others. And when our journey on earth comes to
an end, we as Christians look forward to eternal life in
heaven with our heavenly Father.
James 4:14—yet you do not know what your life will
be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears
for a little while and then vanishes.
God Bless
