This year we held the event in the Parrish Center. We thought we would have more room and had anticipated an attendance of about 250 people. It had been decided to serve lasagna, salads and bread, along with whatever else anyone brought in as a pot-luck. Because we had run out of chairs and food last year we thought we would be well prepared for the event this year. And we wereuntil 6:25 when people just kept coming and coming and coming. It was estimated that we had at least 300 or so people there and would probably of had more if enough seating had been available. We tried! For the most part, many enjoyed the meeting immensely stating that it was the best dinner to date. I tend to agree. The table settings were well done, the food was excellent and the speakers Lindsay T. and Kevin W. were fantastic! Vision Audio did the taping and sound and everything went off without a glitch. Most of the Committees from District 2 General Service had really nice displays set up for every-ones enjoyment. We even had music playing in the background. Central Office would like to thank all the members from the following groups for their help and preparation in this event. I’m sure there were others that I have forgotten, but thank you to all for making this a really great event!!! The Board and Council members really out did their self’s this year. Now we have the task of trying to find a larger place to hold our next Anniversary Dinner. I think we have outgrown the previous locations and will have to find something larger to hold all our members more comfortably. We have a year to come up with some good ideas. OM. Hopefully everyone has checked the old schedule and made sure that the information for their Home Group is correct...meetings times and locations. Also got a letter from the Grapevine...seems that on July 1, 2009 our ―Meeting in Print‖ the GRAPEVINE will be increasing their subscription rate from $2.00 to $2.50...you better get your old price locked in at $2.00 before the price increase. Also the new phone number for Special Needs has changed. The new number is now 813-210-4865. TBAIC - District 2 - Hillsborough & East Pasco Counties (877) AATAMPA or (877) 228-2672!

Hello everybody! I am an alcoholic and my name is Annie L. All is well in the institutions committee for February. That does not mean we can’t use your help! This past month, all of the jail coordinators made phone calls to each and every volunteer with a current PV number, in attempt to put those PV numbers to use. If you have a PV number, and do not take a meeting to jail, but would like to, please call the coordinators. If you are a male, please contact Buddy H. at 813-871-2514. If you are a female, please call me at 305-766-3297. Even if you cannot commit to taking a meeting regularly, you can still go and be of ser-vice. The inmates really enjoy seeing new faces, and it might be your story that brings them to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting on the outside! To get clearance for taking meetings to jail, you can attend the next orientation on April 25th. Contact Buddy to make a reservation. If you do not have a PV number, but would still like to carry the message, you CAN! There are detox meetings every day of the week. You can contact Rob T., Detox Coordinator, at 813-453-6059, and he can hook you up with another volunteer. If you’ve never been to detox, GO! It’s a great way to remember where you came from. If you would like to carry the message to our younger generation, there are opportunities to do this as well. Call Richard G., Juvenile Coordinator, at 813-784-1464. Remember, your kids may need this one day, so you may as well start helping NOW! The treatment centers NEED YOUR HELP! Please contact Marc A at 813-407-2705. The treatment centers do not require any clear-ance, length of sobriety, or orientation. The people at these meet-ings are newly sober and NEED SPONSORS! Jill J. reported that Women’s prison is doing well, and will be pro-viding meetings on Wednesdays and Saturdays, after the time change in March. If you are currently taking meetings, please bring literature! Our literature is purchased by the money from the Pink Can Drive, and is available at Central Office. Make sure to take the Bridging the Gap cards. These can be handed out at any facility. It provides a toll free number to the person who is being released. Lindsey T. re-ceives the message and then helps to get that person hooked up with meetings in their area. Lindsey “bridged” 3 people this past month. Thanks to all of our current volunteers. We appreciate all that you do! Love & Service, Annie L.

Next Committee Meetings April 25th and May 30th at 9:30 AM at the Tri-County Central Office (near Himes & Waters). If you need more specific directions please call Tim @ 813-933-9123. The meeting usually lasts about an hour and it is the best way to get involved with service work in Detox/Treatment/Jail/Prison facilities.

Pink Can Drive Our committee is 100% self supporting and receives no funds from the traditional pie charts or District 2 in accordance with our group conscious. If your home group has not made a pink can donation recently or if you are able to send an additional donation this year … We will put it to great use!

TBAIC, PO Box 26242, Tampa FL 33623 Thank you to those groups who have sent in a donation this Month: Noon Big Book @ 3333, Came to Believe Group, KIS Pass it On, Midday Matinee, Ruskin Fellow-ship (Sunday), Sisters in Sobriety, Thursday Night There is a Solution Group 3333, Wellspring Recovery Group.

Q. Print at least five (5) copies – you’ll need copy for bank and at least one should be kept with the Group’s records. R. Go to a local bank in the area of your Group. Show your EIN notice to the banker. Order checks as follows:

Your Group Name (NEVER INCLUDE AA IN THE NAME

OF THE GROUP)

Group No. 00123456-15-02

P. O. Box 1234

Anytown, Any State 99999-1234

S. The best news is this – that your Group will never have to order new checks, or change banks no matter how many treasurers your Group has – and your banking records will come to a permanent

address. Your first supply of checks should last ten years.

Of course, you will have to add and delete the Treasurer’s name from the bank’s records, but your Group will never need to have new checks printed.

Al opened the meeting in the usual matter with the Serenity Prayer. He asked everyone to turn down their cell phones. During the Treasurer’s report there was much discussion concerning the perceived notion that contributions seemed to be down somewhat so far this year. Tim explained that you couldn’t really rely on a

few months and that in reality we were doing better at this time than we were last year. The difference is our expenses are higher. Tim was asked to put something in the newsletter to ask for or at least make the groups aware of the need for contributions.

Discussion followed concerning the recent Anniversary Dinner, how much fun everyone had and what we could do to make it better next year. Buddy H. was present at the Board meeting to explain what needed to be done with the ASA and Parks Recreation in order to get the Softball Tournament off the ground.

He needed some cash. A request for remote access with our accountant was discussed. It was decided that it wasn’t a good idea so the idea was squashed. Marilyn F. was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for her two years as a Board Member.

She said she wasn’t through with service work yet. She would be back. Joyce asked about the upcoming Quarterly and if Tim was going. He replied that he wasn’t going, so Joyce volunteered to go to represent Central Office in his place. Discussion then when into why we still had an open position on the Board. Tim stated he

would send more letters out. (With Marilyn rotating out —there are now 2 positions open for Board members). Tim was also asked to get more copies of the By-Laws and the Central Office Representative Handbooks made to be available at the next

meeting. Just a reminder: Thank you for supporting your Central Office. Your donations help make it possible for the hand of Alcoholics Anonymous to be there for those who reach out for help in our local area. We at Central Office provide a number of services acting as a clearing

house for the convenience of members and groups. We provide phone service for twelfth step calls and other inquires. We help with the coordination of group activities and we keep track of meeting times and changes and print the schedules. We also edit

and print our monthly newsletter. In addition we sell all Alcoholics Anonymous General Service Conference Approved Literature and some other materials.
