A Shuffle concert changes the rules of performance as you know it for the audience chooses what pieces will be performed. From the classics to jazz to Broadway, Shuffle concerts offer great music for every taste. The ensemble of piano, oboe, clarinet, violin, cello, and soprano provides a menu of more than 30 musical works, and neither the audience members nor the performers know which works will be requested. The result: a unique performance each time.

Students will have a blast learning about the three branches of government, the First Amendment, presidential elections, democracy, the judicial process, and more. Barreling through a variety of musical styles relevant to today’s youth, including rock, rhythm-and-blues, and hip-hop, We the People will instill American pride in audiences of all ages, and perhaps even inspire them to get involved and make a difference.

Hailed by the Houston Chronicle as “revolutionary chamber musicians,” WindSync is a fresh, energetic wind quintet recognized for dramatic and engaging interpretations of classical music. A winner of the 2012 Concert Artists Guild Competition, these five virtuoso musicians perform exclusively by memory and connect with audiences through adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence. In May, WindSync was the winner of the Gold Medal in the Senior Wind Division of the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Strongly committed to education, WindSync’s latest initiative is the Play Different Project, an anti-bullying campaign which teaches tolerance through music and poetry.

Known for their athleticism and stunning ensemble work, Parsons Dance delivers positive, life-enriching experiences to audiences worldwide. New and celebrated American choreographers take center stage as the company presents a range of works, including David Parsons’ own stroboscopic masterpiece Caught.

The Warehouse Theatre’s production is a part of Shakespeare in American Communities, a national program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. This comic masterpiece is set against a background of romance and mystery. This hilarious story of identical twins and mistaken identity, set in the mystical world of Illyria, explores the universal themes of love and all its ambiguous effects on human behavior.

Madison and Daniela are best friends, but when the new girl, Amy, arrives at their school, Daniela starts to feel threatened. That is until Amy makes a big mistake: she sends an embarrassing selfie online. Soon everyone in the school has seen it and no one will let her forget it, especially Daniela. The bullying gets so bad that Amy stops coming to school. Now Madison is caught between the most popular girl in the school, and her new friend who needs an ally. Out of Bounds explores the vicious world of cyber-bullying and the complicated choices young people make when navigating the politics of friendship.

This enchanting musical is based on C.S. Lewis’ adventure story of war-torn England and four children who accidentally enter the land of Narnia by climbing through a magic wardrobe. This strange and wondrous place is ruled by the cold-hearted White Witch who makes the winter last year round. Although they seem unlikely saviors, the children fulfill an ancient prophecy by defeating the witch, thus restoring sunshine and peace to the spell-bound Narnia and returning the great Lion King Aslan to his throne.

Re-experience an important moment on American history: Robert Kennedy speaking to members of the Indianapolis African-American community after the death of Martin Luther King Jr., and his successful appeal for non-violence in response to a terrible act. The orchestra provides a deeply emotional underpinning to this historic speech with the performance of Raymond Horton’s Make Gentle the Life of This World. The concerto also features the winners of the Concerto/Aria competition. Life-affirming music of Beethoven balances out the program.

Jamie Cavanaugh is a young girl who is too fast! Is her speediness a superpower that will help her defeat the bullies Rock and Hardplace? Or is it interfering with her concentration, class work, and ability to listen to her friend’s own struggles? With the guidance of parents, doctors and friends, Jamie finally finds her own pace.

Themes of learning disabilities, bullying, and divorce are handled with respect, intelligence, and humor in this original award-winning play by Chris Craddock. The hero of this remarkable play is a positive role model for young people with ADHD or other learning challenges.

Just in time for the 2016 elections, Childsplay hits the road with a journey through the history of U.S. Presidents told through original rock, pop, and folk music. This high octane, multi-media-filled musical revue looks at the lives of the 44 people who have held the highest elected office in America.

By revealing the humanity behind these larger than life individuals, Rock the Presidents creates a curiosity about our executive leaders and empowers young people with the belief that they too can get involved in civic life. With songs like “The Sons of Washington,” a driving rock anthem honoring Washington’s revolutionary idea of peacefully giving up power, and the jazz-inspired “Who In the World is Millard Fillmore?” celebrating some of the lesser-known Commanders in Chief, Rock the Presidents is sure to entertain and inform audiences of all ages.

Meet Danny Carmo – It was not so long ago that Danny thought school, and, in particular, math wasn’t for him. He was more interested in dreaming about a future on the stage and perhaps the big screen – all he ever wanted to be was a famous magician. But when Danny knuckled down to learn all the tricks of the trade, he realized that math was not only essential…but was the SECRET to a whole load of magic!!

Hailed “a master of visual composition” by Dance Magazine, the Bessie Award-winning Jessica Lang founded her New York City-based dance company in 2011. The company has enjoyed notable success performing at renowned venues and festivals throughout the country. In 2014, JLD received rave reviews for Scape, a work commissioned by The Kennedy Center and the National Symphony Orchestra set to John Adams’ Violin Concerto.

The Bridge Project explores the capabilities of the harp through cross-genre collaboration with some of today’s top artists. With violin virtuoso Kristin Lee and acclaimed percussionist John Hadfield, harpist Bridget Kibbey explores the work of composers who immigrated to the United States, while looking back at the folk music that inspired them. The trio will showcase Sephardic traditional music, Brazilian choro, North African kora influences, and more in this multi-cultural presentation.

Mermaid’s much anticipated new production, A Brown Bear, A Caterpillar And A Moon; Treasured Stories by Eric Carle, will bring together old favorites and new friends. Featuring evocative music, stunning visual effects, and innovative puppetry, the triple-bill highlights three of Eric Carle’s most beloved tales. The Very Hungry Caterpillar (veteran of more than 2000 performances) is joined by a whimsical cast of adventurous animals drawn from the pages of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? The poignant story of a young girl’s unusual quest, Papa Please Get the Moon for Me, completes an hour-long performance, which both entertains and educates.

THE NILE PROJECTTuesday, April 11, 2017Brooks Theatre • 9:30 am • Ages 6-18 • $2

One of the tightest cross-cultural collaborations in history, the Nile Project Collective brings together artists from the 11 Nile countries, representing over 400 million people, to make new music that combines the rich diversity of one of the oldest places on Earth. Using music to spark cultural curiosity, the Nile Project engages musicians and audiences, encouraging them to feel connected to the world’s longest river and to explore new approaches to its large-scale social, cultural, and environmental problems. This performance will deepen students’ understanding of the Nile ecosystem and stimulate new ways of thinking, communicating, and doing.

CU PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE & CU STEEL BANDWednesday, April 26, 2017Brooks Theatre • 9:30 am • Ages 3-18 • FREE

The percussion ensemble features contemporary drumming and percussion from around the world, as well as music for marimba ensemble. The steel band performs soca and calypso tunes from Trinidad and Tobago in addition to classical, pop, and Latin arrangements.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• Tri-ART is for children 3 years and older. Children under 3 are not allowed.

• Parent/chaperones must be counted in the reservation number.

• The theatre generally opens 30 minutes prior to the performance.

• Tri-ART performances are typically one hour in length.

• Since each unfulfilled reservation prevents another child from attending a sold-out event, we will not accept reservations from groups who failed to attend three or more reserved events. Please call us in advance if you find that you will not need all the seats you reserved so that we may make them available to children on the waiting list.

• Homeschools: You must complete one reservation form per household. If your reservation is in someone else’s name, we cannot be responsible for parking issues or failure to read arrival instructions.

RESERVATION POLICY

Reservations will be processed in the order in which we receive them at the box office. Phone orders will not be accepted.

PAYMENT POLICY

Payment in full must be included with your reservation request. Separate checks MUST be sent for each show in case a requested show is sold out. Reservations without payment will not be processed. Once your order is received, your reservation is final and NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES will be made. You will receive confirmation of your reservation and arrival instructions by email.
