LAS VEGASOVERVIEW

DON’T MISS!1. INCREDIBLE NIGHTLIFE ere’s no wrong way to spend a night in Vegas. From low-key boozers to banging super clubs, you’ll nd it all here.

2. CATCH A SHOW e ever-changing Broadway-style show scene hosts everything from Britney to Celine, and any show by Cirque du Soleil is worth every penny.

3. THE STRATOSPHERE TOWER SKYJUMP Only for the mega-brave, this heart-stopping 855 foot free-fall from Vegas’ Stratosphere Tower will test your mettle.

4. RIDE A ROLLER COASTER Not up for jumping o buildings? How about dangling over or rushing past one instead? X-Scream at the top of the Stratosphere Tower or New York New York’s Big Apple Coaster are just the terrifying ticket.

5. TAKE A GONDOLA AT THE VENETIAN You’ll feel like you’ve arrived in Venice itself with a ride along the canals at the Venetian Hotel. e guides even sing Italian songs as they go!

6. VISIT A FLASH HOTEL You can’t go to Vegas without splashing a little cash at one of the hyper-glamorous hotels. ey o er the kind of unique experience this desert city is known for!

7. GET ‘MARRIED’ Where else in the world can you marry a stranger you’ve just met? OK it’s not legally binding but you’ll sure have a lot of fun fooling your friends back home!

8. GO TO A POOL PARTY Show some skin, go wild and dive into one of Vegas’ legendary pool parties. Mandalay Bay, e Palms and the Golden Nugget are all guaranteed winners.

9. STUFF YOURSELF SILLY AT A BUFFET It’s time to eat. Pull up a chair by the famous bu ets at Caesars Palace, MGM or Planet Hollywood and prepare to roll yourself home.

10. HELICOPTER RIDE OVER THE STRIP Okay, so it’s not cheap, but you only live once! For the best view, head up at night when the neon lights are out in full force.

The craziest city in America awaits your arrival, and you won’t believe it until you see it! Elvis lookalikes trawling The Strip, rollercoasters flashing past before your eyes, and beautiful people in bikinis and board shorts drinking cocktails at daytime pool parties.

Las Vegas, literally translated as ‘The Meadows’ from Spanish, is actually about as far from a meadow as you can get. Neon lights, enormous over-the-top hotels, and glittering nightclubs can be found at every turn. It’s a city unlike any other, and watch out… it will pull you in with its eclectic mix of hedonism and adrenaline. It’s Vegas, baby, and anything goes, so let go of your inhibitions and join the party!

Best Selfi e Spots‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign – It’s the original and still the best place to prove you’ve graced Sin City.

Hugging an ‘Elvis’ – Walk along Las Vegas Boulevard for long enough and you’ll nd an Elvis or two willing to strike a pose for you.

Next to the High Roller – A 550-foot tall, 520-foot diameter giant Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip, we dare you to try and get it all in your shot!

1. The Fremont Street Experience – Pry yourself away from e Strip and head to Downtown Las Vegas, where Fremont Street’s nightly light show provides a whole evening of free fun.

2. Walk The Strip – You don’t have to spend a penny to enjoy Vegas’ charms. Simply walking e Strip and people-watching will be an experience all of its own.

3. Watch a volcano erupt – Every half an hour between 7pm and 11pm at e Mirage, you’ll nd a volcano ready to erupt! OK, it’s not a real volcano but it’s pretty cool. Get close enough and you’ll even feel its heat!

4. The Bellagio Fountains – Every 15 to 30 minutes, the fountains at e Bellagio dance to a new soundtrack designed to mesmerise and stupefy their audience. Make sure you take your camera as this is seriously impressive.

You could eat your way around Las Vegas for your entire life and you’d probably never sample every restaurant, as joints open and close with each passing year. It’s nearly impossible to pick out individual restaurants, but we sure did have fun trying!

Our favourites:1. BLT Burger at the Mirage – Juicy burgers piled high with classic toppings such as cheese, bacon, onions and avocado. But it’s the sides that really deserve the limelight: BBQ nachos, fried pickles and calori c shakes are all absolutely delish!

2. The Cheesecake Factory at Caesars Palace - Steak, pasta, pizza and of course those famous cheesecakes. Everything is amazing and everything is massive. Bring a huge appetite and you’ll still walk away with a doggie bag.

3. Tacos el Gordo (1724 E. Charleston Blvd) – Away from e Strip but worth the trip, Tacos el Gordo (fat tacos) is cheap, authentic and tasty. Don’t be fooled by the low-key décor, the beef tacos and the chicken enchiladas are to die for.

ere are events and shows on every night of the year in Las Vegas, all you need to do is look up the dates you’re travelling and you’ll be golden. From international DJs and up and coming bands, to world class sporting events, you’ll nd something you’ll like.

NightlifeNowhere else in the world will you nd as much choice for a night out on the town. A er dark, Las Vegas pulses to the beat of a million people all looking for a good time, and with regular international DJs and celebrity hosts, you can bet your butt that they’ll nd it.

You can party any night of the week, but choose your venue well as clubs are known for being better on some nights than others. ings change quickly so ask around when you get there, but here’s our pick of locations by day of the week. Don’t forget to take your I.D. as door policies are strictly over 21s.

MONDAY Marquee at e Cosmopolitan and XS at Encore battle it out to put on the best night in Vegas. We think XS just nudges it but feel free to make up your own mind.

TUESDAY e dark horse of the week; if you think Tuesdays are lame, think again. Drai’s at e Cromwell, get a taste of Los Angeles at Hyde inside the Bellagio or visit Omnia at Caesars Palace all put on an epic show.

WEDNESDAY Head for Chateau at Paris for incredible views, or Surrender at Wynn for a cool poolside vibe. For a high-energy night, Light Nightclub inside Mandalay Bay will keep you partying all night.

THURSDAY Loads of clubs open their doors tonight so be sure to check the clubs’ individual schedules to see who’s playing. Tao, Tryst, Hakkasan, Omnia, Drais, and Body English are usually amongst the best in town.

FRIDAY It’s the weekend and pretty much all of the nightclubs in town are open for business! We like Omnia at Caesars Palace for its glittering views of e Strip.

SATURDAY Seriously. Take your pick.

SUNDAY With no signs of quietening down, Sunday is a massive night for a party in Vegas. If you’re feeling brave, XS hosts Sunday Night Swim, or e Bank inside Bellagio hosts a great party for the rich and famous.

GETTING AROUNDMost of the Las Vegas entertainment and nightlife is centred around either Downtown or e Strip, which makes getting around easy. On e Strip, many of the resorts are located within walking distance of each other, and simply walking the length of e Strip can be a fun way to spend the day anyway.

For those with tired feet, there’s a monorail from the Tropicana Avenue Grand to Sahara Avenue, which makes seven stops along the way and costs a few dollars for a ride.

For a fun and cheap way to get around, consider a Deuce bus. A 24-hour pass is just $8.

e easiest way to get around by far is to simply hail a cab. Fares are metered but you shouldn’t pay more than about $30 for a ride.

Watch out forTicket touts patrol e Strip all day and night, looking for unsuspecting victims

to prey on. Classic scams include selling tickets for fake VIP entry into nightclubs or for all night free drinks,

or fake show tickets. Keep in mind that if it sounds too good to be true, it

de nitely is. Don’t be conned into buying from touts!
