Logline: CSI meets Ghost Hunters with a hint of Conspiracy Theory in this innovative television docu-reality
series that follows the personal and professional lives of a team of multi-faceted super sleuths who travel the
world in search of answers to age-old and contempory mysteries.
Synopsis: Fusing highly-intriguing subject matter with a cast of colorful, intelligent and thorough
investigators working together as a cohesive team, The PSI PROJECT is a reality television series that takes a
bold new approach to the exploration of strange and unexplained phenomena. The show combines REAL-
LIFE drama with compelling investigations conducted by the PSI (Paranormal and Scientific Investigations)
Team, a diverse and talented band of forensic and paranormal investigators who scour the world in search
of the “unknown.”
Page 2ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
The PSI PROJECT is unique in that it explores the mysteries of our world through the adventures
and experiences of the PSI Team, a compelling group of dedicated and experienced investigators. The
team comprises an internationally known psychic who has worked extensively with law enforcement;
a respected private investigator who is a former NY police detective and sergeant; an award-winning
investigative journalist; an anthropologist and historian who is pursing an advanced degree; a professor
with a background in crime reporting who is an expert in journalism research; a former military police
officer & reconnaissance expert; and a bible scholar & fringe specialist. This core team is assisted by savvy
researchers who explore the vast untapped reservoir of the world of the unknown.
The viewer will not only experience the intensity of the PSI team’s investigations, but will also bear
witness to the continued growth and development of the team itself. How will their relationships evolve?
What tensions will arise from their conflicting methodologies? Who will side with whom, and how will their
loyalties be tested? And how will each of them reconcile their diverse opinions and strong personalities as
they conduct their investigations into these inexplicable mysteries? It’s a journey that will leave viewers on
the edge of their seats.
Each week, the PSI Team—guided by new and time-tested forensic and scientific methods, biblical
and archological research, and a dash of new-age intutiton—will bring a fresh perspective to questions that
have puzzled scientists and philosophers for millenia. They will uncover new evidence, dispel the myths
and reveal the conspiracies and cover-ups surrounding such controversial topics as global weather, earth
changes, mass bird and animal deaths, hauntings and the paranormal, secret cults, alien abductions, and the
Mayan 2012 Prophecy. This fascinating show will challenge viewers to consider new evidence and theories
and at times accept that there are forces in our world—natural, manmade and supernatural—that impact
our lives each and every day.
Viewers willl also journey into the personal lives of this motivated group of hand-picked and
highly skilled investigators as they experience the drama of venturing into the unknown while attempting
to balance their everyday lives. Each week, they will fearlessly plunge into the depths of our world’s
uncharted territories leaving no stone unturned. No shred of evidence will be omitted as they work
tirelessly to uncover facts and bring resolve to the obscure and the unexplained.
As their journey unfolds, viewers will see the PSI Team rely on forensic evidence, scientific analysis,
intuition, savvy and finesse along with their finely tuned methodology to wage their relentless crusade
toward discovering the truth. They will journey with team members as they come face-to-face with personal
Page 3ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
and professional obstacles and dangers, and rejoice in their daring escapades during each and every
episode. They will share their frustrations when team members hit a dead end, and enjoy their excitement
when they discover new and indisputable evidence. Through the interactivity of the Internet, viewers are
invited to follow along as they support their favorite investigators and challenge others. Viewers get to
make suggestions and interact with the investigators through the website and the Command Center and
Anonymous Tipline.
In addition to the incredibly talented and diverse team that has been assembled for The PSI
PROJECT, the show also has gained access to a secret informant rumored to be a former high-ranking CIA or
military agent. This enigmatic individual, known only as The Key, seems to always know what the team is
working on and makes contact at critical junctures providing relevant clues, information and documentation
long kept secret. The Key’s true identity is NOT known and will NOT be revealed to anyone.
How will the sudden emergence of this informant affect the team? Can the informer be trusted? Will
they help or hinder the team’s progress? Is there a mole on the team feeding information to the informant
or is The Key somehow watching the team’s every move? The Key adds a unique and edgy element to the
show as the information provided is frequently of a covert, top-secret nature. Will the members of the PSI
Team overcome their initial skepticism and learn to trust their unknown ally? Or will The Key prove to be
more of an adversary, spreading lies and disinformation? Only time will tell.
Format: The PSI PROJECT is unscripted. The bulk of each one-hour (44 minute) episode will be devoted to
the investigation, and will be segmented according to the various steps unique to each case.
In addition, viewers will be privy to snippets of each investigator’s life as he or she tries to juggle
their obligations to family and other professional commitments while taking on the task of unraveling
these mysteries. These snippets will leave viewers asking questions like: Will one team member fall prey
to the “policeman’s curse?” Can another balance these all-consuming investigations and still be a good
mom? Can an up-and-coming investigative journalist reconcile two distinct forms of journalism and still
be successful? Can a psychic and evangelical bible scholar peacefully coexist on the same team? What will
it take to make the resident skeptic finally believe in the paranormal? And is our military expert right in
believing that that Big Brother might be keeping a watchful eye on our team?
How team members deal with personal adversity and potential dangers to themselves and their
loved ones, as well as how they deal with one another throughout the investigations, will provide moments
Page 4ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
of dramatic tension throughout the season that will rivet viewers and will provide keen insight into the
often messy process of unveiling myths and age-old conspiracies.
The investigative portions of the show will be roughly divided into three main segments:
“The Case” – Each week the team meets in the boardroom where the case is introduced. A historic
overview of the issue is presented to pique interest and grab the viewer’s attention. The PSI Team discusses
what is commonly known or believed about said issue, raising questions and presenting possible avenues
to explore. Most importantly, they establish the goal of their investigation—what they hope to accomplish.
If The Key is involved in the episode, he or she will either call or send evidence that will be brought to the
table.
“The Investigation” – The viewer observes every facet of their real-life investigation including the
forensics and scientific methods used and the experts interviewed. Due to the time constraints inherent
in programming, some of these processes will have to be truncated during broadcast, but viewers will be
invited to watch longer videos featuring more complete interviews and procedures that will be posted on
the show’s companion website. During this segment, as well, viewers will bear witness to some of the
obstacles the team might encounter, such as obstructionists who spread misinformation and others who
might want to stand in their way in their quest for the truth.
“Evidence” – In the last part, the team returns to the boardroom to review the evidence and research that
has been gathered thus far. They will then fashion a unified approach to the case and work closely toward
achieving their goal and cracking the case.
Page 5ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
SAMPLE EPISODE ARC:
Intro – A small montage is shown highlighting the results of previous important cases, and reminding
viewers of pertinent dramatic arcs facing the PSI Team investigators.
The viewer is briefly introduced to the case by either internationally known psychic Jill Fontaine or
Fringe Specialist and Case Manager Kim Stambach, who present a justification for why the mystery should
be investigated. They agree to convene the rest of the team.
A title for Case #63119 (or whichever case number) appears onscreen.
Boardroom – The team convenes in the Boardroom...their think-tank. Jill opens the meeting by introducing
and framing the case, and turns it over to Kim to fill in the detail. Videos or photos may be used to illustrate
the point or case. The team asks questions and discusses what they know about this topic. If the Key is
providing information for this episode, he or she will either call or the information sent will be brought to
the table for review/discussion. A general approach is determined and the investigators are off on their
journey.
Investigation – The core of the show is the investigation. The preparation, research, and investigative
process for each investigator is filmed. This team is hands-on so they do whatever it takes to get down to the
nitty gritty: they make phone calls, hold interviews, meet with experts and corporate and political figures
when required. They engage in evidence collection and conduct hands-on testing where possible, or work
with research facilities when necessary. Viewers will accompany the team as it experiences the roadblocks,
successes, twists and turns that they encounter as they accumulate the compelling evidence that builds their
case. At times, there will be cliff-hangers in this section of the show that leave the audience anticipating
what will happen next.
Evidence Collecting – Viewers are invited to be part of the investigation through our
interactive website. As the evidence is logged in, a URL flashes onscreen inviting viewers to
join the hunt for the truth. They can scan photos, videos and other kinds of evidence as it is
logged onto the site during the investigative segment of the show.
Page 6ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
Regroup – During the Regrouping Session, team members debate and examine each other’s
theories. Fans can join the discussion and debate on the website, and offer suggestions or
tips through the Anonymous Tipline. Guided by the method of reasoning made famous
by Sherlock Holmes, the PSI Team narrows its options, decides its approach and tactics and
sets off on a highly focused effort to prove their theories in the second half of the program.
Now with a clear and unified approach the team works in unison, bringing together all
of their individual skills toward cracking the case. The viewer follows them wherever the
investigation leads, be it a foreign land, a secret government facility or the offices of some
major corporation involved in the case or cover-up.
Epilogue - The show wraps up in the Boardroom again as the findings of the investigation are presented for
the viewing audience. These findings can range from bold new ideas to a conspiracy exposed to irrefutable
evidence being presented.
Get Involved/Viewer Participation - Producer Francine Bianco Tax will man the PSI PROJECT Command
Center and Anonymous Tipline. Francine interacts with fans around the world as they call, text or email to
discuss the show and provide compelling leads and tips for the PSI Team. Viewers will be given a website
link to vote for their favorite investigator and the evidence they most relate to and/or believe. As the
investigators debate/discuss the case and recap events and wind down the show, fans can cast their votes on
the website indicating which investigator pleaded the most effective case, and see how their opinions stack
up with other viewers.
The show will end with the Command Center asking for anonymous tips to help solve this and other
cases. At commercial breaks and just prior to closing, the show’s website address will flash, asking viewers
for suggestions for future show concepts. If a viewer’s show concept is picked, they win a choice of PSI
PROJECT merchandise and a chance to have a cameo appearance on the show they suggested.

SEASON ONE - (13 Episodes):
Solar Flares:
In this episode, the PSI Team will research and investigate the mysterious and often unpredictable
behavior of our sun and solar flares. Conventional wisdom has long held that solar flares recur in a pattern
and thus far, they pose no threat to human life due to the planet’s natural defenses. But even the most
prominent astrophysicists have admitted theirs is not an exact science and there is still much they don’t
know about the mysteries of our universe. At least a few have disagreed about the threats to our existence,
and some remote viewers have claimed that a deadly solar flare called “The Kill Shot” will occur in the near
future.
Will our life-giving sun also prove to be the undoing of all life on earth? What exactly are these
mysterious flares and what kinds of disruptions can they cause in our technology-dependent world? How
will the advancement of the Solar Maximum affect the earth and all life on earth? Is there anything that we
can do to prevent harm or better protect ourselves from these natural phenomena? We follow the PSI team
as it tracks solar flare cycles, consults with scientists from NASA and other institutions, and reviews satellite
data. Watch as they bring to light conflicting information from a variety of different sources. Just how far
off the mark are the experts we rely on for our safety? Who’s right and who’s wrong? Most importantly, is
there anything the general public can do to protect itself from a natural catastrophe? Tune in to find out.
Bird Deaths / Fish Kills:
Throughout 2011 alone, news reports from all over the world have chronicled the unusual deaths of
tens of thousands of birds, fish and other animals. While some scientists brush off reports of these animal
“kills” as “normal” and “cyclical” at least two major scientific organizations—one the Smithsonian, the other
affiliated with Princeton University—have used the word “extinction” in connection with these events.
In this episode, the PSI Team will delve into worldwide reports of these massive animal kills. The
team will begin their research, plotting out timelines, locations, commonalities and parallels with each
event. They will investigate the locations, talk to witnesses, review necropsies and lab reports and interview
scientists, wildlife officials, ornithologists, ichthyologists and veterinarians—even attempt to obtain
samples of the affected animals for independent testing. Why did these animals die? And what caused the
Page 8ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
odd behavior some of the displayed before meeting their demise? Was it chemical? Biological? Natural or
man-made? Are these dead creatures our “canary in a coal mine?” And if so, what should we be doing to
forestall our own inevitable end? Tune in to this episode to see what dead animals might have to do with
us, and what we should be doing to prevent our own “extinction event.”
Extreme Weather / Weather Manipulation:
In 2011, snow fell in Hawaii...and 31 inches of it covered the earth in a South American desert known
to be the driest place on earth. Larger, stronger storms and tornados than ever before have been reported in
the past decade, ravaging the planet, leaving behind countless casualties and massive economic damage.
Do you want to know what is really causing our strange weather? Stay tuned to this episode as the
PSI Team addresses increasing concern about extreme weather. Watch as team members pull together data,
baseline measurements and historic information as they zero in on possible causes for the extreme weather
patterns. They will interview meteorologists, climatologists, ecologists and weather historians to unravel
the mystery behind the climate extremes. Is global warming real and if so, is simple pollution to blame?
What about long-held rumors of nefarious climate manipulation control? And if such technology exists,
who wields that power and what would they have to gain by using it? Follow the team as their quest for
the answers to these questions take them to unexpected places in pursuit of the truth.
UFOs & Alien Abductions:
UFOs or Unidentified Flying Objects are any unusual object in the sky or aerial phenomenon that
cannot be identified by the observer. The narrower definition of UFO, thanks to both investigators and
popular culture, is alien spacecraft. Most UFO sightings have proven to be conventional objects such as
aircraft, balloons, cloud formations or astronomical objects. About 5 percent of reported sightings have
proven to be hoaxes. However, between 5 and 20 percent of those encounters remain unexplained.
Polls indicate that 95 percent of the population in the United States have heard of UFOs, 71 percent
believe that the government is covering up information regarding UFOs, 56 percent think that UFOs are real
alien spacecraft and 48 percent believe that aliens have visited Earth. And Americans are not the only ones—
an internet search for global sightings reveals that UFOs have been reported worldwide, on every continent,
by virtually every nation. Most intriguingly, perhaps, is the possibility that people may have been spotting
Page 9ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
these flying craft—and recording these encounters—for millennia.
The challenge for the PSI Team this week is to find out whether there is any truth to these reports.
Their far-flung search will take them from the distant archeological past to the present, and to places where
the natives have reported numerous encounters with strange aerial phenomena. Are they chasing after “little
green men?” Or will their search provide them with concrete evidence that we have been visited—and perhaps
even been influenced—by beings from another world?
Voodoo:
The religion known as Voodoo is widely feared but very little is actually known about it. The PSI Team
goes straight to its African-Caribbean roots to speak to Voodoo priests, witness ceremonies and rituals, and
determine whether stories of spirit possession, dead ancestors coming back to life and animal sacrifice are true
or just myth. The team speaks to religious figures to get to the bottom of Voodoo’s religious validity. Is it devil
worship or a rich faith with multiple Gods and spirit guides? Are Voodoo hexes and curses effective? How do
they work? Do you need to believe in Voodoo to be affected by it? Is Voodoo to be feared or embraced? The
PSI Team finds out in this must-see episode.
Cattle/Animal Mutilations:
In this episode, the PSI Team tackles a most disturbing topic: Cattle/Animal Mutilations. The first
documented animal mutilation took place in 1967 in Alamosa, Colorado to a horse named Lady. The strange
circumstances surrounding Lady’s demise received widespread media attention. The 3-year-old horse was
found with her head and neck skinned and de-fleshed, the bones cleaned to white. The cuts seemed to have
been very precise and there was no blood at the scene. Strange depressions were found nearby and when
checked with a Geiger counter indicated high radiation levels. A nearby resident claimed to have seen strange
lights hovering in the sky.
By 1970, 15 states reported similar mutilations to cattle, which seemed to be the primary species
targeted. The disquieting reports included the alleged removal of the animals’ eyes, udders and major
organs, with surgical precision or unexplained damage to remaining organs, and a general lack of signs of
predation and animal footprints. Since then, ocassional reports of these events have continued to pepper the
media. Were these animals felled by some unseen, unknown predator? Were they the victims of some sort of
experimentation? Or is there some more nefarious explanation for what happened to these creatures? The PSI
Page 10ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
Team will confer with experts who track these events, examine necropsy reports, and find the clues to whom
might be mutilating these animals—and why.
Polar Reversal:
Earth’s north magnetic pole is located in northern Canada, about 600 km from Resolute Bay—for the
moment. More than a century ago, scientists discovered that the magnetic pole moves. James Ross located
the pole for the first time in 1831. In 1904, Roald Amundsen found the pole again and discovered that it had
moved--at least 50 km. The pole kept moving during the 20th century, north at an average speed of 10 km
per year, lately accelerating to 40 km per year. At this rate, it will exit North America and reach Siberia in
just a few decades. Scientists know that sometimes the field completely flips. The north and the south poles
swap places. Such reversals, recorded in the magnetism of ancient rocks, are unpredictable. They come at
irregular intervals averaging about 300,000 years; the last one was 780,000 years ago. Are we overdue for
another?
Conventional scientists say no, but others are not so sure. In fact, some scientists who
don’t follow conventional wisdom say a decline in the magnetic field means a polar reversal is
imminent. Followers of the 2012 Mayan prophesy warn us that on Dec 21, 2012 when the planets
align with the galactic equator this will cause a polar reversal. How will it effect us? Will it affect
gravity? Communications? Technology? Weather? Natural phenomena? Is there anything we should be
doing in anticipation of this upcoming natural planetary alignment? The PSI Team explores both sides of
this story as they attempt to decode the mystery of polar reversals and what it might mean to the future of
civilization as we know it.
Nikola Tesla:
Nikola Tesla was born on the 10th of July 1856 and died on January 7, 1943. He was a Serbian
inventor, mechanical engineer and electrical engineer that rose to fame in America during the early part
of the 20th century. Although little is heard about him today, he was an important contributor to the
birth of commercial electricity, and is best known for his many revolutionary developments in the field of
electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
But the eccentric inventor, who is believed to have suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder,
was also known to his peers as a debt-ridden “mad scientist” whose later theories were debunked. Or were
Page 11ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
they? After Tesla died of heart failure, alone in room 3327 of the New Yorker Hotel, the U.S. government
and the military allegedly confiscated his documents and personal effects, declaring them to be “top secret.”
For more than a decade, Tesla’s family and the Yugoslavian government fought with the U.S. government to
have Tesla’s property returned to its rightful place. What was the big mystery? What did the mad scientist
have in his possession that made his property valuable enough to keep and store for more than a decade?
Tesla researchers allege that the “mad scientist” might have dabbled in the dark side: from the early
1900s until his death, Tesla worked on plans for a directed-energy doomsday weapon. In 1937, Tesla wrote
a treatise entitled “The Art of Projecting Concentrated Non-dispersive Energy through the Natural Media,”
which concerned charged particle beams. Tesla published the document in an attempt to expound on the
technical description of a “super-weapon that would put an end to all war.” Did he actually succeed in
inventing such a thing?
In this episode the PSI Team takes on the life of Nikola Tesla and the mystery surrounding his
troubled life and confiscated files. Discover what part of the missing Tesla files the PSI Team might have in
its possession. Did Nikola Tesla really leave behind the blueprint to a Doomsday weapon? And if so, just
who is in possession of it? The answers just might shock you.
2012 Mayan Prophesy:
One can find countless theories about what’s supposed to happen in 2012 - ranging from all out
doom and gloom, to total enlightenment and ascension, to absolutely nothing. In this episode the PSI
Team looks beyond the hype to decipher what the ancient Mayans prophesied.
Just what did elements of the prophecy entail? Are there any parts of the prophecy that can be
substantiated today? And is there any truth to the alleged connection between the prophecy and various
theories, including the 2012 Galactic Alignment theory, the X Planet concept, and the continental shifting
theory of Charles Hapgood? Is all of this just hype to rile up the population or will the winter solstice of
2012 bring the world some unwelcome developments? The PSI Team races against the clock, consulting
scientists, pseudo-scientists, Mayans, researchers, astronomers, and politicians in the hope of finding the
answers to this timely mystery.
Page 12ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
Masonic Symbols & Rituals:
Masonic symbols and rituals are all around us. They’re on our money, on city buildings, in
advertising and even in children’s cartoons. In this episode, the PSI Team exposes the hidden meaning
behind these symbols and rituals.
Who has embedded them in our society and why? What are the historic roots of free masonry? Is it
simply a do-gooder organization with a penchant for charitable works? Or are its rituals steeped in human
sacrifice and derived from devil worship, as others claim? And how did it come to be that this organization
has gained such influence throughout the globe?
In their quest for answers, the PSI Team will interview current and former Masons, religious figures,
historians and conspiracy theorists. They will also review underground pictures and “found footage” of
masonic rituals. Watch as the PSI Team provides some answers that may shock and surprise you.
Time Travel:
Stephen Hawkings once suggested that the absence of tourists from the future constitutes an
argument against the existence of time travel. Of course, this does not prove that time travel is physically
impossible. While most physicists generally avoid the commonplace language of time travel, they do agree
that time travel into the future is possible but that traveling back in time is much more problematic.
In this episode the PSI Team will research and investigate the truth about time travel. What are the
theories and concepts of time travel? Have scientists conducted experiments in time travel and what were
the outcomes? Is time travel really possible or is it just science fiction? Did the Philadelphia Experiment
or the Montauk Project really happen? Did the now infamous John Titor of internet fame really travel to
our present time from the future or was his story just a hoax? And how does time travel dovetail with the
concept of traveling between dimensions? After this episode, you may never think the same way about time
and time travel again.
Voynich Manuscript:
Housed at Yale University, the Voynich Manuscript is considered to be “The Most Mysterious
Manuscript in the World.” Said to have been written in Central Europe sometime between the 13th and
16th centuries by an unknown author, it is filled with undecipherable figures and drawings, and has resisted
Page 13ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
scholars’ repeated attempts at translation. Who owned this book and what secrets does it hold? In what
language was it written? And does it hold the key to the future of our civilization in its mysterious pages?
In this episode the PSI Team tackles this enigmatic tome. They collaborate with botanists, scientists,
theologians, linguists and others to decipher this mysterious book. Will the manuscript prove to be an
ingenious hoax or an unbreakable cipher? Will their research reveal answers to our current world problems
in this ancient book?
Ghost & Apparitions - A Visit to One of America’s Most Haunted Locations:
In a peaceful, quiet community in upstate New York there exists a small family restaurant and bar
called Smalley’s Inn. The building looks quite unassuming. The restaurant is located in the quaint and
historic town of Carmel, New York. The building in which it resides has a rich history.
But, the town of Carmel holds a dark secret. The only hanging ever to take place in Putnam County
took place in Carmel; in fact, within feet of Smalley’s Inn. Further research reveals that at the time of
the hanging, Smalley’s Inn owner James J. Smalley was acting as Sheriff of the town and had a personal
connection with the hanging victim George Denny. Through the years this restaurant was used as a meeting
place during the Revolutionary War and was rumored to have been used as a morgue.
In recent years, bar patrons and visitors to the Inn have been plagued by attacks from phantom
visitors. They report having been scratched, seeing shadow figures, hearing growls and much more. Could
the building’s history be responsible for these present-day reports of physical encounters between the living
and the Inn’s alleged ghostly inhabitants?
In this episode, the PSI Team takes on the paranormal. Using new, proprietary equipment, they will
attempt to capture evidence that there might be more living in Smalley’s Inn than meets the eye. They will
be joined by seasoned paranormal researchers in their quest to discover the haunting mystery of lost souls
that may walk within the halls of Smalleys Inn.

Ashley Gravlin-Beman - ANTHROPOLOGIST
and HISTORIAN:
Growing up in New York City, Ashley
Gravlin-Beman weekly visited the Museum of Natural
History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art with
her mother. Science and the history of the ancient
world was part of her daily life. Ashley was raised on
stories of her grandfather’s adventures in the jungles
of Latin America in the 1930’s and the house was
filled with objects from ancient times: part of a Greek
amphora, ancient coins, a Roman sword tip, silver
spurs from a Spanish Conquistador. Growing up in this
kind of environment fueled Ashley’s desire to be an
archaeologist.
Ashley also had a love for the performing
arts. At 7 years old she joined the Metropolitan Opera
Children’s Chorus after Zubin Mehtna heard her sing
and recommended an audition. She trained and sang in the Children’s Chorus for several years in such
operas as Cavaliera Rusticana, La Boheme, and Pagliacci.
Ashley’s interest in environmental conservation led to her role as a lead singer with THE WORLD
PATROL KIDS, a group that included Natalie Portman & Eden Riegel, and performed at the United Nations,
Clearwater Revival, Audubon Society, and numerous NYC environmental events. In her teens, Ashley was
a chorus member of the Manhattan School of Music and studied one summer at the Royal Academy of
Dramatic Arts in London. She also worked on several film and television productions.
Ashley’s family relocated to Florida and during her first years of college she continued her love
of performing and sang with several bands. She also led a successful career in auctioneering. Having to
constantly research many of the treasures that her auction company would find for estate auctions, Ashley
became re-acquainted with her love of history and archaeology. She decided to go back to school for
Anthropology.
In this environment, Ashley excelled. In 2010, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida
Page 24ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
Atlantic University with a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in History. She received the Kennedy Award
for Outstanding Anthropology Student of the Year and her project entitled, “Fractal Analysis of Maya
Bas-Relief Sculpture” was accepted by the Sigma Xi Science Conference and was also awarded best Visual
Presentation.
Always an avid researcher, Ashley’s collaboration with Dr. Clifford Brown, “Wealth and Society in
Mayapan,” was recently published in: The Ancient Maya of Mexico: Reinterpreting the Past of the Northern
Maya Lowlands. She is now continuing her own research and spends summers on archaeological digs with
the Maya Research Program in Blue Creek, Belize.
Ashley is an experienced researcher and investigates every side of an issue in order to find a new
angle to a proposed question. She has an extraordinary memory, excellent analytical investigative skills, and
her training in Anthropology has taught her to think outside the box. She has traveled extensively in Latin
America and Europe. Ashley is also a charismatic personality and feels at ease in front of the camera from
many years of on-camera experience.

Jason Capuano - PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR - former
Cop/Detective/Sergeant
Jason Capuano became a police office in September
1982. As a rookie cop, one of his first arrests was of a
perpetrator that had fired a gun into a crowd in front of a
nightclub because he was thrown out. Jason apprehended
the suspect and was awarded his first medal. As time went
on, his arrests piled up and the “Brass” took notice. During
the “Crack” epidemic of 1987, the city’s low income housing
projects were overrun by drug dealers. Violent crime was on
the rise. It was during this troubled time that Jason was called
upon to work undercover in the newly formed “Drug Task
Force.” This was his route to the gold Detective’s shield every
cop desires. After more than 2 ½ years of apprehending and
arresting drug dealers and users, his Detective’s shield was awarded to him in August, 1988. Two years later,
he was transferred to the Property Theft Unit as a Detective. Eventually he joined the major crime detective
unit where he investigated past armed robberies, rapes, frauds, homicides, etc.
Homicides intrigued him and were by far the most challenging cases. Usually the only witness
Page 26ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
was dead, thus requiring a detective to pool resources in order to develop the case and find the often, very
elusive killer. During this time, Jason studied under such renowned investigative experts as Dr. Henry Lee
and Vernon Geberth, (author of many homicide text books), etc. He became a hostage negotiator with the
department.
After being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in October 1993, Jason felt he needed a change. He
wanted to work the streets again. He retired in October 2002 after 20 years of police work.
A real investigator never retires however, so Jason soon applied for and received his NYS license
as a Licensed Private Investigator. Now he privately investigates cases dealing with everything from
mysterious deaths to fraud and even voodoo curses. He has appeared several times on Channel 2 news as a
commentator offering professional analysis of police incidents.
As a child growing up in the south Bronx on Melrose Ave, violent crimes, burglary and domestic
disputes were a daily occurrence. When that green and black squad car would pull up, Jason always looked
at those policemen and thought, “They have the answer!” He knew even then that law enforcement was his
calling. He wanted that challenge of finding the bad guy, helping those that are unable to help themselves,
and showing young people that there’s a better way.
Jason’s hobbies today include riding an Ultra Classic Harley Davidson and investigating his cases.
One day, he may even finish his book, but that remains to be seen.

expectations for this show and am thrilled to be a part of it.”
Dr. Mercedes Diaz - PROFESSOR of JOURNALISM
RESEARCHER and INTERNET WHIZ
Mercedes R. Diaz is a writer, researcher and
adjunct professor of journalism and mass communication.
In the past, she worked as a general assignment and
police reporter for various newspapers and news services,
including UPI (formerly, United Press International), the
Philadelphia Inquirer, the Times of Trenton and the Vineland
Daily Journal.
Diaz was born and raised in the Bronx, New
York, and graduated from Mount Holyoke College in
Massachusetts, before embarking on a career in higher
education. She has a Masters in Journalism and a Ph.D. in
Mass Media and Communication from Temple University.
She is an expert in Latin American international

has taught courses in mass communications, investigative reporting and journalism research at Rider and
Montclair State universities in New Jersey, as well as at Lincoln University and at her alma mater, Temple
Page 28ECP - THE PSI PROJECT
University, in Pennsylvania.
Dr Diaz’s Philosophy:
“I’ll be the first to admit that over the years, I have encountered phenomena that couldn’t be easily
explained away. Now and then I experience something that leaves me scratching my head. It doesn’t
happen often. Believe it or not, I like it when that happens because it means I have a new mystery to mull
(or maybe I’m just a glutton for punishment).
“That is not to say that I believe every report of unusual activity—in reality, I don’t. Most reports
are hearsay or urban legends. Even news reports are not always well-researched. I like evidence. I’m a
strong proponent of the informed decision. I’m not big on jumping to conclusions. Let’s just say that I
probably won’t be the one who leaps on the bandwagon first—I’ll be the one who’s looking underneath that
bandwagon to see just how stable it is before I decide to step on it. And trust me—if there are any planks
missing on that bandwagon, I’ll be sure to let you know.”
Character Synopsis:
Dr Mercedes Diaz - PROFESSOR, RESEARCH SPECIALIST: Phd. Strong Academic credentials. Build
character around her academic background. She teaches Investigative Reporting. Highly intelligent. Well
researched. Feisty. Reserved when she hasn’t done home-work (which is rare). Walking encyclopedia!
When Mercedes speaks - she has something important to say. Sees this as an opportunity to reveal more
than mass media. Passion for telling sides of the story that normally don’t get told. Calmly asks the
questions. Grounded. Reflective. Outspoken in a reserved and factual way.
Sense of Humor: I see humor in the absurdities of life. I guess that means I laugh at just about everything,
since I see absurdities everywhere—starting with the fact that I lease my house from the slumlords at the
bank. They just call it a mortgage.
Favorite Song: “Chan chan.”
Favorite Movie: “Robocop” and “Brazil”
Favorite Artists: Dali, van Gogh, Picasso, Jacob Riis, Noel Pointer, Carlos Santana
Favorite Color: Moss green and aubergine
Page 29ECP - THE PSI PROJECT

Recognizable ‘trademarks’ for your character: On a more personal note, my signature piece of jewelry is my
gold chain and medallion that used to belong to my late father.
Hobbies: Reading everything; writing
Personal hopes for the show.
“My main hope is that the show takes off; that it gains an audience and becomes successful. My greatest
hope and fear (in a good way) is that it will become a water-cooler show or a part of pop culture. More than
anything, I want learn as much as possible about the topics we are investigating. I know we’ll be working
on other projects as well, and that’s gratifying to know, but I’d really like this show to be successful in itself,
and I think it will be.”

Kim Shambach - FRINGE SPECIALIST and BIBLE
SCHOLAR:
Kim Shambach has a hunger for knowledge and truth.
She wants to know how things work and why: what are the
dynamics and workings of what we see, and additionally
what we don’t see. Her goal is getting to the cause and
effect mechanisms that control the things that seem to come
so randomly into our lives.
She broke rules a long time ago… the rule that says
“don’t ask those questions.” She discovered that having the
rule was just not good enough; besides those were the kind
of questions that she craved answers to.
She is artistic and creative by nature (her first job was
sketching pastel portraits at Hershey Park). She later
gravitated to modeling and garnered acting roles in the
original Crocodile Dundee, Andre’s Mother, and Radio
Days. Additionally, she has enjoyed doing commercials for
such brands as Raisinettes, McDonalds, Kodak and Toyota.
Eventually she settled down and had a family. She worked her way up from a Deputy Clerk of
Court to a Courtroom Clerk to Legal Secretary with Felony division in the State Attorney’s Office, then on to
a Judicial Assistant and then on to work as a Legal Assistant for a deservingly respected attorney.
Her thirst for knowledge and truth (and therefore her quest) never went away. Through the course
of her life and varied experiences she learned to trust and rely on her spiritual leadings. While her bottom
line foundation is faith and the Christ of the Bible, she completely rejects the doctrinal traditions of men,
considering them in actuality the very antithesis of the “intended purpose.” She is currently working on a
book to lay out her argument or case on the subject.
Kim’s passion is research... she finds information… If there is something interesting and intriguing,
scary or spooky, unexplained or not understood, she researches and investigates it to understand it. If it’s
threatening or intimidating… she confronts and exposes it.
