To those of you that were unable to fit in an appointment we have another Child Portfolio in May 2018. Portfolios are a time to celebrate your child and what they are capable of so please take the time to talk to your main caregiver. Staff enjoyed creating beautiful displays in the centre entrances to focus on the Image of a Child. This was an opportunity to showcase our Pedagogy. Pedagogy means the art and science of teaching: education and learning environment. Through the Image of the Child staff has expressed what is personal to them about the importance of recognizing children’s strengths. Please take the time to read them they are full of thoughtful insight into our team and what they value in our children of today and the future generation! Along with our Pedagogy journey to recognize and learn to think more deeply about the importance of children’s learning you will see Learning Stories. This is a brief story about your child or sometimes about a group activity. Often the story will include a question to you the parents. This question often is designed for the staff to get to know you and your child better and open up communication about the story presented to you. We love to hear your responses! We are very excited to let you know our upcoming trip to Forte Whyte will be during Christmas break this year. We have focused on visiting the same field trip to see it during all four different seasons. This is a great opportunity for children to learn to understand our ecosystem and the importance of all seasons. Your children will learn about different mammals and insects and where they go during the winter months. Some even make special tunnels with snow! There will also be an opportunity to learn more about snowflakes! You are always welcome to join us just please let us know if you would like to come and we will make sure we have room for you on the bus! Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!
