Dear GoldCare55+ Member,

What a wonderful year 2015 turned out to be. As we reflect, we can remember traveling

together, spending time and learning how to be proactive toward better health. Seeking

knowledge; making good decisions to create a better life. Not only are the good times

important, it is helpful to know that you are not alone in your journey. We, Marshall

GoldCare55+ staff, are here if you need us. We are blessed to have made so many

new friends, to provide meals for caregivers of our members who were hospitalized.

Many have shared that they started to exercise and use the discounts at Therapy

Plus Fitness. We salute our members who listened, then put into practice eating well,

getting preventive medications to avoid illness and training to becoming safe drivers.

We commend and encourage you to continue to take advantage of program options

designed to benefit you, our seniors.

2016 is here and we are pleased to announce that a familiar face for many of you has

returned to GoldCare55+ and other key areas that utilize her expertise at Marshall

Medical Centers. Welcome back to the team, Peggy Hudson. We are glad she is with

us, and feel sure you will be happy to know that Peggy Hudson and Shirley Holland

will be here, teaming up on your behalf. We have worked together at Marshall

Medical for over 5 years and are committed to making 2016 your best year ever!

With both of us working for you, you can expect honest, loyal comrades who want

nothing but the best for you. Excellence, attention to detail and service for our

members are among our goals!

Planning your 2016 Travel & Events has been rewarding. Our mission to provide a

a mystery trip, a cruise to the Caribbean, Savannah-Jekyll Island, and a once in a

Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, Irondale Café& ShoppingA ride through motorsports history. This is no ordinary race track so get ready to rev your engines! With its creative architecture and great attention to detail, the museum is home to over 1,400 motorcycles that span over 100 years of production, making it the world’s “best and largest” motorcycle collection. The museum also features the world’s most extensive Lotus collection along with many other rare racecars. Next, lunch is served directly in the heart of original downtown Irondale, adjacent to the train tracks at the Irondale café. Known for their “world famous fried green tomatoes,” and as the location for filming the movie of the same name. We will end the day at The Outlet Shops of Grand River.

All Aboard! Amtrak’s Crescent will take the worry out of travel today. New Orleans, here we come, arriving to enjoy the evening and the sights of the city. The morning will provide continental breakfast at our hotel then a tour of “The Big Easy,” one of the world’s most interesting cities. Highlights include Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, above-ground cemetery and more. Mid-day, our bus will take us to board The Norwegian Dawn to enjoy a 7-day Western Caribbean vacation. Football Fantasy TourCrimson Ride! Tuscaloosa here we come. First stop is The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in Birmingham, a benchmark museum, with over 5,000 square feet of sports artifacts elegantly displayed in 33,000 square feet. Lunch today is exceptional; The Cypress Inn on Lake Tuscaloosa will cater choice items from their iconic menu. Next, a tour of Paul W. Bryant Museum where you will take a walk through history and see The Traditions, equipment, personal & professional pieces from the Bear and others. During our campus excursion we will have a local tour guide share highlights and history. We will stop at Bryant-Denny Stadium to see larger-than-life bronze statues of former to present coaches, historic plaques honoring players from the beginning. In “Old Town” drive up the narrow Royal Mile to EDINBURGH CASTLE to admire Scotland’s Crown Jewels, next explore HOLYROOD PALACE (except when the Queen is in residence.) Later, a unique excursion on board the former Royal Yacht Britannia to see how the Royal Family and crew of 240 lived and worked on board. Dinner rounds off the evening.

Day 5: Edinburgh-Lake District, England,-Liverpool: On our way through the Lowland Hills, we stop at Gretna Green. Then, leave the land of the Scots and journey to England through the tranquil Lake District to Grasmere, home of poet William Wordsworth. In Liverpool, visit the award-winning BEATLES STORY, an atmospheric journey into the life, culture, and music of the “Fab Four.”

Day 6: Liverpool-North Wales-Dublin, Ireland: Landscapes of Snowdonia National Park and Llanberis Pass are sights to start the day. After Caernarvon, cross Britannia Bridge to the Isle of Anglesey for a photo stop at tongue-twisting Llanfair. At Holyhead, board the FERRY and cross the Irish Sea of Dublin.

Day 7: Dublin: Orientation drive to the Irish capital with Georgian Squares, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and highlight of the city. Visit Oscar Wilde’s TRINITY COLLEGE. Enjoy an afternoon of leisure. Optional evening includes dinner, dance and song.
