Overview of the Program TNCC consists of lectures, hands-on psychomotor skill stations and interactive online learning. TNCC is based on the nursing process, which is emphasized through the components of the course. Although many of the trauma care principles are basic in theory, rationale for standard concepts is presented, and underlying critical thinking is included. The chapter content is organized in a consistent format for ease of learning. Lectures highlight critical concepts presented in the chapters to reinforce learning of these concepts and the nursing process. The psychomotor skill stations integrate cognitive knowledge with skill practice in simulated patient situations. Each teaching station scenario highlights a selected patient population experiencing different mechanisms of injury. This illustrates and emphasizes chapter content for the demonstration of assessment skills and applicable injury management.

Evaluation Methods Successful completion of the course includes scoring a minimum of 80% on the 50-item multiple choice examination and demonstrating all critical steps and 70% of the total points in the evaluated skill stations. Participants have the ability to repeat the written examination or a psychomotor skill station one time if needed.
