Movement in Humboldt Park Residents of Humboldt Park have limited access the CTA ‘L’ System. A resident living in the “heart” of Humboldt Park (Division & Sacramento) must walk at least 1.3 miles, or about 32 minutes to the nearest Blue Line or Green Line stop. While the Metra system is closer to this intersection, its services are more limited in time, scope, and route. Bus access is more readily available but is less reliable and moves more slowly than the CTA’s ‘L’ train cars. Most people travel via automobile, most likely due to the inaccessibility of quick transit to and from their shopping and service areas. Should access be improved by Bus Rapid Transit or extension of an ‘L’ line, businesses would benet by being accessible to customers and residents would benet by a decrease in the amount of time they spend traveling to services. The project seeks to understand the access that Humboldt Park residents have to other parts of Chicago as well as the access people from outside the neighborhood have to Humboldt Park.

Movement in Humboldt Park

Residents of Humboldt Park have limited access the CTA ‘L’ System.

Should access be improved by Bus Rapid Transit or extension of an ‘L’ line, businesses would benefi t by being accessible to customers and residents would benefi t by a decrease in the amount of time they spend traveling to services.
