Transport for NSW Royal National Park road upgrades Project update | June 2020 Transport for NSW has begun a program of road and safety upgrades in the Royal National Park. The work was subject to public consultation during April 2020. Transport for NSW is replacing the Flat Rock Creek Bridge, which has carried Royal National Park traffic since 1945 Stage one – Sir Bertram Stevens Drive culvert rehabilitation Sir Bertram Stevens Drive culvert rehabilitation was completed on 5 June 2020. The work involved repairing and replacing culverts along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive between McKell Avenue and Garie Road to provide better drainage throughout the area. Stage two – McKell Avenue slope rehabilitation From 1 July 2020, Transport for NSW will stabilise the slope on McKell Avenue, near Waterfall, and replace a culvert to provide better drainage in the area. We will work 15 days and 25 nights over a 16-week period, from 1 July 2020 to 16 October 2020. The night shifts require full road closures, while single lane closures will be in place during day shifts. Night work hours are 7pm to 7am, Sunday to Thursday. Day work hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. We will not work weekend days or public holidays.

Transport for NSW has begun a program of road and safety upgrades in the Royal National Park. The work was subject to public consultation during April 2020.

Transport for NSW is replacing the Flat Rock Creek Bridge, which has carried Royal National Park traffic since 1945

Stage one – Sir Bertram Stevens Drive culvert rehabilitation Sir Bertram Stevens Drive culvert rehabilitation was completed on 5 June 2020. The work involved repairing and replacing culverts along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive between McKell Avenue and Garie Road to provide better drainage throughout the area.

Stage three – Flat Rock Creek bridge replacement Unfortunately, many of the bridge parts are coming from overseas and have been delayed by coronavirus-related supply chain disruption so we have had to delay the start of the bridge replacement. We’ll know more over the coming weeks and we’ll provide more information in the next project update. Additional work – asphalting on McKell Avenue and Wattamolla Road We originally said we will close McKell Avenue and Wattamolla Road for two night shifts. We’ll now keep McKell Avenue and Wattamolla Road open and complete the work with single lane closures for four day shifts between Wednesday 17 June and Wednesday 24 June 2020, between 7am and 5pm, weather permitting.
