    11. TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS

    The Transport and Communications data is being collected from State and Central

    Government Departments respectively.

    Table-11.1 This table shows number of Railway Stations and total route kilometerage in

    Andhra Pradesh as on 31.3.2011 and 31.03.2012. The number of Stations as

    on 31.3.2011 are 942 with route length of 6,501.480 kms. The number of

    stations as on 31.3.2012 are 939 with route length of 6,501.480 kms.

    Table- 11.2 This table gives District-wise number of Motor Vehicles of different classes

    and categories registered in Andhra Pradesh as on 31.3.2012. The Number of

    Transport and Non-Transport vehicles on road are 15,68,517 and 1,08,97,174respectively as on 31.03.2012.

    Table- 11.3 This table presents the total length of Roads maintained by the National

    Highways, P.W.D(R&B) and Panchayat Raj Departments in Andhra Pradesh

    from 2000-2001 to 2011-12. The total length of Roads as on 31.3.2012 under

    these Departments is 2,15,266 kms.

    Table- 11.4 This table denotes the District-wise total length of Roads maintained by the National Highways (4,730 kms.), P.W.D(R&B) (66,618 kms.) and Panchayat

    Raj (1,43,918 kms) Departments as on 31.03.2012.

    Table- 11.5 Earnings of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation is presented

    in this table. The Earnings Realised during 2011-12 are Rs.6,67,740 lakhs of

    which 85.49% is realized through passengers and 14.51% through Goods &

    Miscellaneous services.

    Table-11.6 Working of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation is presented

    in this table. The Number of Accidents during the year 2011-2012 is 2,473.

    Table- 11.7 This table gives the data on various types of Motor Vehicle Accidents for the

    year 2011. Total number of accidents during 2011 are 12,401. The highest

    accidents occurred by Two Wheelers 2,595 and Truck/Lorries 2,171 in the

    year 2011.

    Table- 11.8 The number of Post Offices and Telephone Connections for the years 2008 to

    2012 is presented in this table. There are 16,142 Post Offices and 21,86,023

    telephone connections(including WLL and excluding Cell Phones) in the State

    during the year 2011-12.

    Table- 11.9 This table gives District-wise number of Post Offices, Telegraph Offices etc.,

    existed as on 31.3.2012. It is seen that out of 21.86 lakh Telephone

    connections(including LL, WLL and excluding Cell Phones), highest number

    of 5.58 lakh connections are found in Hyderabad District (It includesRangareddy District Connections) followed by Krishna, East Godavari , West

    Godavari and Guntur districts with connections 2.06 lakhs, 1.81 lakhs, 1.50

    lakhs and 1.49 lakhs respectively.
