    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Participation/ Registration

    1. When is the last date for registration?

    A. October 15th, 2013

    2. How many members can a team have?A. A maximum of three members.

    3. Can the team members be from different colleges?A. Yes. You would need to register as separate teams and send a mail [email protected] stating that you would like to work together. In case the team membersare from colleges of different zones, then we should be informed of what one zone (north,south, east or west) you will be representing.

    4. Can we add or remove or change a team member after registration?A. You could ask the new member to register as a separate team and send a mail [email protected] stating that you would like to work together.

    Submission

    5. What is the format of the submission?A. a. A maximum of twelve A3 or 5 A2 sheets with an advised word limit of 150 words

    per sheet.

    b. Soft copy compatible with MS office 2007 with not more than 20 slides

    * Please write names and other team details only at the back of the sheets in case of hardcopy and for slides - only on the 1st and last slide of the ppt.

    Brief

    8. Our college of architecture is still in the planning/ construction stage? Can we do casestudy of the existing temporary campus?A. It is suggested that an architectural college in the vicinity be studied instead of a

    building under construction or still in the planning stage.

    9. What are the setbacks for the site?A. For Height of Buildings upto 14.5M: Front 3.5, side 1 & 2-4.0, Rear- 5.0

    For heights of building above 14.5M: Front-5.0, side 1 & 2-5.0, Rear- 6.0

    Site and its context

    10. Can any edge of the site be modified?A. No site edges are to be modified

    11. Can the water body outside the site be modified / extended into the given site?A. Yes

    12. How much should the mandatory open space be?A. Ground coverage is 50%. So it should be leaving you the rest as open space.

    13. Please elaborate on the site and its context.

    A. The site is in the Southern fringe of Kolkata. The context is still semi-urbanwith urbanization catching up fast. Opposite the site a gated Housing is coming up.Otherwise it is surrounded by rural hutments - single storied with tile or tin roof. The site ispredominantly low lying (500 below the Pucca access road). The vegetation is mostly localvariety of coconut, Banana, Taal, Supari and other fruit trees. The site was an agriculturalfield before conversion to educational land use.

    14. Why is the total site area of 4.45 acres been divided into 3 acres + 1.45 acres?A. 3 acres:Allocated for present development and can be any selected part of the site.

    1.45 acres: allocated for future development. A story line is to be created for effectiveuse of the 1.45 acres for future expansion. Please note that nothing is to be indicated onthe plan for this area, but only ideas to be brought to the table for its best possibleapplication.
