Installing STAR Translation Automation Connector for AEM

Log in with your Adobe ID

To get STAR Translation Automation Connector for AEM Connector, go to CRX DE and click Share.

This displays the list of packages that can be downloaded.

To shorten the list, select Connector.

Navigate to STAR Translation Automation and click Download.

The system asks for confirmation, click Yes.

When the download is finished, click Back to Package Share .

Now click on (package) and you will see your newly fetched package at the top of the list:

Click the Install button.

Initial set-up

Before you can start using your connector must perform some set-up steps. You can also request set-up work as a service, please contact us for more information at: https://www.star-group.se/connector/.

You will need the following:

▲ A special user

▲ An address and ID-string

▲ Workflow definitions

▲ Correct language codes

The special user

The connector requires that you define the user star-service, this user has to have the role Administrator.

Address, ID string and workflow definitions

This information will be provided by the STAR support team. Please register at https://www.star-group.se/connector/ and we will come back to you with the information (click login in the upper right corner and the register).

This is what you do:

Double click it and this dialog will appear.

The URL and ID string is supplied by the STAR support team.

The purpose of the ID-string is to make sure that the AEM connecting to us is the system we are expecting.

The workflow name(s) will also be decided together with the CLM-team.

There is no defined limit to the number of workflows, but we suggest you use as few as possible.

To suit your company’s specific needs, the workflows can be set up to contain different steps (quote, no quote, (if or not you need a quote prior to us starting the job) review, customer review in WebCheck, (depending on what review steps you want in the workflow) DTP (if you would like us to assist you with post-translation DTP) etc.) or they can cover different types of files.

Automation and flexibility are normally opposing forces, but this way we are able to combine the two without compromising user friendliness.

When you are finished with the first workflow configuration you can copy, paste and edit it to cover the next workflow.

Correct language codes

AEM is delivered with many language definition codes. Our recommendation is to replace these with the most-used ISO definition codes (ISO 639-1 & ISO 639-2). In brief:

1. Remove all language codes you do not need.

2. Change the remaining ones to codes following the most used ISO definitions which is “language-COUNTRY”, as in “en-GB” for English-Great Britain, or “de-DE” (German-Germany). This is particularly critical and best practice if you will be using different flavors of English, German, French etc.

In more detail, this is what you do:

Navigate to Libs-wcm.core-resources-languages and expand the list.

You can now delete the languages you do not need, and edit the languages that you will be using.

A short list makes setting up new translation projects much easier, since you do not need to navigate the full list each time

When you are finished with an entry it should look like this:

Remember to click Save All at regular intervals.

When you have your complete list, make a copy (right click on Languages and select Copy from the menu)

Navigate to apps – wcm core – resources.

(If the folders are not there, you have to create them. Right click on the final item you have, i.e. core, and create a new folder, i.e. resources.)

Paste your newly created languages node into the resources folder and click Save All.

Please note that you will have to restart AEM to make the new settings active.

You should now have a functioning connection between AEM and STAR CLM translation automation and you are ready to start your first project.

We suggest you read the User Manual before starting the first test project.
