    A Standard Math student…  appreciates having his teacher do a lot of examples in class  performs best when he knows what to expect on a test because the questions are very similar to what he has seen in class  may also have a lot of extracurricular activities and therefore not have time to work at the Enriched level

    The Enriched Math course…

     Students in the Enriched Math course will follow a problem-based learning program in which concepts are taught through the problems.  (This problem-based program is based on the work of Phillips Exeter Academy.)

    An Enriched Math student…  is genuinely interested in mathematics  enjoys the challenge of solving problems that synthesize material from different areas of the course  is able to tackle problems on a test that are different from what he has seen in class  is self-motivated, does not give up when frustrated, and is flexible in trying different approaches to a problem.

    Standard French (FSF1D)  Standard French follows the Grade 9 Ontario curriculum and allows students to attain a solid foundation in vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing and oral communication.

    Enriched French (FEF1D)  The Enriched French program reviews the same vocabulary and cultural content as the standard course.  The instructor, however, will challenge students with more difficult reading and writing tasks in Enriched French.

    An Enriched French student…  is a fully engaged and talented language student who is strong in grammar and reading, as well as oral and written communication  can cope with all lessons being delivered exclusively in French, and appreciates the special focus on the study of literature  writes a different exam to receive the Grade 9 Extended French credit
