Work Experience Opportunities

Students have the opportunity to begin learning vocational skills and behaviors such as time management, problem solving and independence.

Work Experience

The purpose of this course is to provide work experiences and training for students in community job sites. Students will be prepared to function in work situations with minimal supervision. Based upon individual needs the student will be placed on jobs in community and school work settings for training or employment. Based upon the individual needs of the student, the student will be placed on one the following:

1. Job Coach – a job coach provides on-the-job training as needed. 2. Work Sample – unpaid vocational training 3. Work Study – paid employment in a community worksite

Job Club

The purpose of this type of course is to prepare students for work and post-graduation careers. Students will be ready to participate in either community work samples or paid employment. Students complete interest surveys, explore careers and community resources, learn job-seeking skills during both a classroom component, and an actual unpaid community job exploration experience.
