GET REGISTEREDYou’ll be assigned a registration date based on the number of completed credits you have on record with the Registrar’s Office.

Register online using Ursa, the university’s secure, electronic gateway for student registration, bill payment and other important functions. A Personal Identification Number (PIN) must be obtained from an advisor before you can register for classes.

ONLINE ORIENTATIONOnline Orientation is designed to acquaint you with campus resources and equip you to be successful during your time at UNC. You cannot register for classes before you complete Online Orientation.

ADVISINGOnce you’ve completed Online Orientation, you’ll be able to meet with an advisor and set up your course schedule. You are also invited to a Transfer & Non-Traditional Welcome, where you’ll have the chance to meet other incoming students, get an overview of life at UNC, and connect with advisors.

HOW TO TRANSFER YOUR CREDITSUNC requires a minimum of 120 semester credit hours to graduate with a bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 30 credit hours taken at UNC. Your credits will automatically be evaluated after you’re admitted to UNC (which means we’re working on it, if it’s not already done!). The Office of the Registrar determines which credits are transferable and evaluates that coursework based on previously established equivalencies. Courses that do not have established equivalencies will be sent to academic departments responsible for reviewing new courses. To see how your earned credits will count toward your UNC degree, log in to your Ursa account and go to Degree Works under the Student tab. Still taking classes that didn’t show up on the transcript you submitted to us? Use Transferology: go.unco.edu/transferology to see how your credits will transfer to UNC, and make sure to send us an updated transcript after you’ve completed courses at your current institution.

Once you make your confirmation deposit, you’ll receive information about orientation as it is available.

INVEST IN YOUR EDUCATION The Office of Financial Aid is committed to helping you through the financial aid process and finding ways to manage your college costs at UNC.

For more information, visit unco.edu/financial-aid.

NET PRICE CALCULATORUNC’s net price calculator will give you an estimate of costs and let you know if you might qualify for grants and loans. go.unco.edu/price-calculator

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov by March 1 to be considered for the maximum amount of financial aid. If you miss the March 1 deadline, you should still submit a FAFSA as soon as possible. Be sure to use UNC’s school code, 001349, and import your 2016 tax information directly into the 2018-2019 FAFSA. After completing your FAFSA, you may be eligible for federal and state grants and loans as well as work-study. Once you have completed the FAFSA, you’ll receive an estimated award letter as early as January. Your official award letter will be sent in early March. Be sure to check your BearMail and Ursa account frequently for updates.

HOUSING TIER

Decide which preference is most important to you, and fill out your application based on the following chart.

UNC’s housing offers outstanding amenities and the convenience of living on campus.

YOUR ROOMMATESGetting to know your roommate(s) is a big moment in the college experience. The Housing and Residential Education Office determines your hall, room and roommate assignment based on the date you complete your housing contract, your roommate compatibility survey and your housing tier preferences. Requesting a roommate or particular hall does not guarantee those placements; however, the sooner you complete your contract, the more likely you will be assigned in your tier preferences. You will be able to log back in to the housing contract to see your assignment after July 15. You can then contact your roommate through email or social media. Your housing deposit must be submitted before you will be assigned a room and roommate.

Be sure to check your BearMail and Ursa account frequently for updates.

FIND YOURCOMMUNITY Living in a Residential Learning Community, or RLC, means you’ll live in a hall with fellow students and a resident advisor with similar interests, goals or academic pursuits as yours.

In addition to gaining networking opportunities, students who participate in RLCs tend to be more academically successful and have the chance to network for their careers. You can also choose to live in the Transfer Community, which is intended as a place for students like you to network and connect.

Gender-Inclusive Gender-Inclusive living allows students of many genders to live together. This is ideal for students whose gender identification and/or expression varies from binary; for students uncomfortable living with a roommate of the same biological sex; and for students who want to live with friends or family. This community is intended for students to feel safe and have a sense of belonging. Note: You’ll need to complete the Gender Inclusive Agreement on the Housing & Residential Education website if you choose this option.

Global Village This community is focused on international living and experiencing college through a global lens. Students will have the opportunity to live with domestic students interested in studying abroad, as well as other international students.

Pet-friendly This community is for students who want to bring a pet or who want to live around animals.

Transfer CommunityThis community is intended for transfer students to network and connect.

OFF-CAMPUS LIVING970-351-2172unco.edu/off-campusThe university’s Off-Campus Life office provides information on a wide variety of off-campus housing options in the Greeley area.
