Once imported into Magnum, the transcripts—which are hyperlinked to exhibits--can be managed alongside other transcripts and documents in your workspace. View documents side-by-side with transcripts to detect any discrepancies between witnesses who testify to the same material. Make a note of your findings in the margin and perhaps share your insights with others. The team can develop a dialog right in the margin of the actual transcript or exhibit and reference it today, next month or at trial with the same ease.
DEPOSITION PREPARATION MADE EASYDeposition prep and developing your line of questioning is quick and straight-forward with Opus 2 Magnum. Mark-up key documents with issue tags, margin notes and hyperlinks to supporting content and generate a dynamic report of work product to facilitate the deposition. Earmark the documents that will be presented as exhibits and label them with exhibit numbers before preparing them for use at the deposition. The export includes your annotated versions plus clean copies to send to the court reporter, and the exhibit number is logged in the system for all other team members to leverage throughout the case.

Streamline this process using our embedded Chronology tool, which sits alongside the transcripts, exhibits, key documents and annotations, and is shared by the whole team. While reviewing a document, simply right-click to add a highlighted passage to the chronology. Alternatively, apply an annotation or hyperlink to the passage and then send the excerpt directly to the chronology from the annotation toolbox. You can also create multiple, independent chronologies that enable efficient management of different arguments in a single workspace.
KEEP YOUR FINGERS ON THE PULSE WITH SPECIALIZED REPORTSTrack the progress of the team and the development of case themes with specialized reports. Opus 2 Magnum enables you to slice-and-dice all work product across every piece of content in the workspace, including documents, transcripts and video. Your customized reports can be broad or they may drill down to specific users, tags, files or various other criteria. For example, you can filter the report to an issue, such as “fraud,” and the documents or transcripts with that tag will appear, providing a quick glimpse of the strength of a particular claim. You can further refine the report to only include passages tagged as evidence of “fraud” by a particular team member.

PREPARING TRIAL EXHIBITS AND DESIGNATIONSAs trial approaches, all the work you have completed in the period leading up to trial remains at your fingertips, and no further training is needed at this high-pressure stage of the case. Resume use of the same familiar tools from earlier phases, such as annotations, hyperlinks, tagging, organization, sharing insights and reporting.
As always, Magnum maintains a single copy of every key document and transcript, which significantly simplifies trial preparation. The deposition exhibits can mature to trial-exhibit status with new numbers and dates-of-admission logged in the system. All annotations made to the document throughout the life of the case remain in the margin of the trial exhibit, although all markup can be hidden and a clean copy can be exported for use at trial or electronically displayed in the hearing room.
The Magnum workspace includes a first-of-its-kind, easy-to-use tool specifically designed to create and edit designations. The tool simplifies the traditional designations process while providing ample flexibility to meet the variable demands for each case. The designations tool enables you to create designations, objections and responses, and easily edit them. The tool allows you to import and export the page and line references of designations for distribution. Additionally, a video clip of each designation is automatically created and the elapsed time is calculated. Transcripts with designations clearly referenced can be printed, and you can generate reports filtered by designation and/or transcript.
