Prayer Corner God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19 God does not lie; (Titus 1:1-3) in fact Hebrews 6:18 tells us that it is impossible for God to lie. Godʼs word is true (Psalm 33:4) and He gives us directions on how to live. (Hebrews 4:12-13; Isaiah 48:17) Godʼs promises are true and He never goes back on them. (2 Corinthians 1:20; Joshua 23:14; Psalm 119:140; 145:13b) So - if God is the God of truth, it only stands to reason that we should live a life of truth, (Colossians 1:10-14; John 8:31 & 32; Titus 2:11-15a) doing what is right in Godʼs eyes. Itʼs easy to let ourselves be led astray by nice sounding words and ideas. Itʼs easy to choose wrong directions and get detoured away from Godʼs will for our lives. Itʼs easy to let ourselves get sucked dry, spiritually, by being so busy we donʼt have time to spend with the One who gave His all for us. Itʼs easy to lose our joy and peace in our day-to-day living, to replace Godʼs joy and peace with “things” which only bring a temporary fulfilment. We need to spend time with God in His Word to check things out. We need to choose Godʼs truth to live by. (Ephesians 4:14-16; 2 John 1-6) We need to live with joy and thankful heart, with integrity that sits deep within our heart and gives us a peace beyond our understanding. (Philippians 4:4-7; 2 Thessalonians 3:16; Romans 15:13) Trust that no matter what obstacle steps into our path, God can and will handle it with us. (Isaiah 43:1-3a) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, (Paul) or seen in me - put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8 & 9)

Our Church Family Family Matters: � Helen Bomhoff’s 19 year old niece has been diagnosed with Stage 3

Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Please pray for Stephanie, as this is a recent

diagnosis, and the cancer seems to be progressing.

� We pray for Jack Hadaller as he remains in the hospital. We pray for

wisdom for the doctors.

� Lift up Harry Schriemer in prayer as he has undergone tests, and waits

for results.

� We praise God with Janna Alkema as she has had favorable reports

from the doctor recently. She will continue to have a few more rounds

of chemo.

� Please remember to pray for Henry and Frances Kunkel as Henry is at

home dealing with ALS.

� Fran Van Heyst, Allan Tiel’s sister, began chemo recently. Please pray

for her during her time of treatment.

A Musical Thank You!

The music committee would like to express its sincere thanks for all those

who gave of their time, effort and musical talent in recent months to

enhance our services for baptisms, during Advent, Christmas, and New

Year's. Your willingness and commitment is commendable and the

variety and beauty of the music was enjoyed and appreciated by all.

Council Report:

� Request to create a ‘crying’ room off the sanctuary. Referred to the

Administration committee.

� It was brought to our attention that more work may be required in the

implementation of the plan to protect in order to receive

comprehensive coverage through our insurance. Options to be

pursued before this is undertaken.

� Classical credentials were completed with Pastor Dan and Arnold

Kamerman attending. Roger Vaags will be an alternate. Meetings are

at Edina MN, March 4th and 5th.

� Congregational spring meeting date has been set for March 11th.

� Future Lord Supper Sundays have been tentatively set for March 29th

(Good Friday) and June 9th.

� Congratulations to Pastor Dan for his acceptance into the PhD

program at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, and his recent

acceptance into the PhD program at Boston College.

Announcements

Calling All Youth – This Saturday, Feb 23rd, the Jr. and Sr. Youth are

hosting a special dinner at Covenant CRC for your grandparents and

others over 55 from Covenant and Transcona CRC. Youth are asked to

be at Covenant at 4:30 to prepare. Dinner is from 5:00-7:30. You can

still sign up your grandparents today on the sign-up sheet in the

fellowship hall.

SEA To SEA update

Joyce and I are back on track with our training. We are putting a couple

of hours at least every second day, in the saddle on a stationary

setup. We need to develop those callouses, and muscles required for the

trip.

Plans are coming along for our fundraiser on March 2nd. There is a sign-

up sheet on the door of the fellowship hall for anyone that can assist

us. Keep that evening open.

The organizers of Sea to Sea, are looking for more riders, either for the full

ride or just small parts. If you can join us, go to www.seatosea.org to sign

Council News

Council has endorsed the calling committee’s recommendation to

extend a call to Pastor Kasey Vanderveen.

The voting will take place March 3rd after the morning service. A

minimum of 75% affirmation vote is required from the congregation

before the motion is approved.

The Motion is as follows: Are you in favor of Transcona Christian Reformed Church extending a

call to Pastor Kasey Vanderveen?

Absentee ballots will be accepted if they are in the format as provided by Council and validated by the members signature on the envelope

that it is received in. (ballots will be available by the mail boxes)

Council has committed this process to prayer and encourages the congregation to do the same as we discern God’s will for TCRC. There will be a short congregational meeting after the morning service on

February 24th where the Calling Committee will entertain questions from

the congregation.

Good Friday/Easter choir: A choir is being formed to sing on Good Friday

(March 29) and Easter Sunday (March 31 AM). We will rehearse in the

sanctuary on Sundays, immediately following our morning worship. We

will officially begin February 17 (today) . Grades 7 and up (no upper age

limit!) are encouraged to come. Contact Lisa Vos with any questions.

Are you 55 or over? The youth of Transcona and Covenant CRC’s would

like to invite you to dinner! On Feb 23rd from 5:00-7:30, they will be hosting a special evening at Covenant CRC and they hope you can

come. The cost for the meal is $10.00 and there will be an opportunity to

support this summer’s youth mission trip if you would like. We are hoping

to finalize our numbers today, so please sign up on the sheet on the

fellowship hall door to let us know you are coming.

On April 26-27, Hope Centre Ministries is sponsoring in2013, a conference

for churches and other Christian organizations/ministries who want to

grow in their understanding of inclusion. Information can be found by the

mailboxes or by checking the conference website: www.in2013.org. If

you are an elder or deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, or are

concerned about helping to make us a more welcoming church, the

conference offers workshops to increase our awareness of the needs of

others and to build our skills to address those needs. Funding is available

to enable your attendance. If you would like to attend, please contact

John Boorsma.

Zachary & Robin Entz, the missionary couple we support, are going to be

in Winnipeg and will be doing a presentation in our church on Sunday

March 24th, in the evening service, about their work with World Renew in

Mali.

Note from Council: Calvin Vaags, Robert Reinink, and Aaron Jeninga

completed their terms of service as elders and deacon in 2012. Arnold

Kamerman, Roger Vaags, Gordon Zylstra, Fred Jeninga and Frank Smid

are completing their terms this year. As you consider nominations for

elders and deacons, please keep in mind that we have traditionally

allowed for two years between terms.
