In 1989, Hummingbird island helicopters were operated to transfer the guest from Male International Airport to the resorts.

Helicopter fleets were operated under this operation.

8 years later the company name changed to Hummingbird Island Airways.

First seaplane added to the fleet and started to transfer guest in the year 1999.

A year later name changed to “ Trans Maldivian Airways”.

In Feb 2013, TMA and MAT partnered with Blackstone.

Blackstone is a leading investment and advisory firm.

The founders and majority shareholder of both MAT and TMA continue to play an important role in new merged business.

They are operating under the name of TMA.
