Welcome to Epic Training
Welcome to training at South Shore Health System and the educational journey on which you are about to embark. It is mandatory that all end users receive comprehensive training prior to receiving login rights. Education of end users is one of the most critical components to implementation success, and the South Shore Health System Training Team has carefully structured each step to meet the needs of employees including: e-Learning lessons, live instructor led classroom training, role based practice exercises, in-class assessments, and Super User at-the-elbow support. We are confident that our approach to training will provide the structured guidance needed for your success during Go Live. It will be especially important that each employee take ownership of attending scheduled classes on time and as scheduled. Attendees who do not complete all required e-Learnings or show up late for class will not be allowed to participate in training that day and will need to reschedule. Only end-users who attend all required training and pass necessary end user proficiency assessments will be granted access to use Epic at Go Live. Please take a moment to read the Course Catalog and review specifics of the class/classes you will be registered to attend. Take special note of the recommended e-Learning lessons to complete prior to attending your first class. E-Learning lessons will be ready for viewing in HealthStream a few weeks prior to the start of training.
We are committed to providing the tools and educational experience necessary to ease your transition to Epic software. Thank you in advance for your commitment to the success of the Epic implementation at South Shore Health System.
Please direct all questions regarding training to Karen Harhen, Training Manager, at 781-624-1673 or [email protected].

Anesthesia
Anesthesiologist and CRNA
Course ID: Anesthesia Provider Prerequisites
In this course you work through the three stages of anesthesia documentation: preprocedure, intraprocedure, and postprocedure. You follow a general surgery patient to see how anesthesia tools are used in surgery workflows. Key content includes creating templates for faster documentation, documenting intraprocedure medications, interacting with device data, deciding which medications and fluids to continue during postprocedure care, and reviewing charts for missing documentation.
You will go on to work through care that occurs outside of the OR. This includes epidural documentation, C-Section documentation, and other floor procedures. You will also explore advanced medication documentation and how to document blood administration.
After you have attended class, you will practice your skills via Shadow Charting. Each provider will be required to chart real cases in Epic in the weeks leading up to Go Live. The records from these cases will be assessed for completeness and accuracy.
